Lye. As in Red Devil. Careful and be quick about it or you can pit the aluminum. Temperature of water mixed with the Lye will also change how fast it works. Experiment with junk fitting first.
Aircraft stripper or Original style Easy off oven cleaner works also, but try the lye first.

I removed all the small parts (washers, etc) anodizing with the lye so I know it works. But you have to polish afterwards. But if anything pitted, the lye works at that pit and makes it worse.

Easy-off oven cleaner works too. Takes a few minutes of soaking, but not as strong as lye so it's less damaging.

If you have an anodizer in town up there, they can strip the fittings for you. My polisher does stripping for me also. if you don't want to deal with doing it yourself. Be real careful with the caustic stuff if you do it yourself, chemical burns are not fun.

I've got some of these polished/nickle plated ones that look killer.
I don't have that many and when they are gone they'll be gone for at least 3 months before I get more of them. One of these days the plan is to stock the entier line in this finish.

You know, you changed my thinking on some things. I was going to wait but I've changed my mind. I'm going to order some if these in the next few days. I'll have them in about 45 days or less.
Question for you:
How well does a powder coat finsh hold up? And will your AN wrenches fit the nut after the powder coat?
Seems like a wrench would chip the finish.
