The best quote:
"And remember, we're here to save your butts, not kiss them"
It does'nt get more "to the point" than that line.

Hey, is it a requirement that you have less than a 110 IQ to be a cop? Just asking.
Also, I am glad cops are always there to cite me for speeding when I drive to work. Thank god they are there to save me from my own dumb self. I mean, for christs sake, the speeding limit is 55 and everyone should never exceed that.
I like the DUI laws. I like that they fine people thousands of dollars, but they are happy to give the driving privledge back again and again to repeat offenders. It couldn't be to collect more revenue, right? This is about safety!
Oh, and be sure to sign you ticket with a smile. When I signed mine with a frown, a cop pulled me out of the truck, slammed me on the hood, and told me to sign it like it looks on my license. But, you know, he was teaching me a valuble lesson. To have blind respect for cops, right or wrong. I mean, every cop is a hero, right?
Personally, I think they are a bunch of brain dead, power hungry closet fags, but what do I know?

You're kinda stereotyping aren't ya? Everyone knows there are asshole cops out there, hell I have friends that are asshole cops, but I also have friends that are good ones who treat people with the respect they deserve and yes, to me they are hero's.
Sorry for the rant, but I think the topic of this thread was just to have a little fun:D

Im sorry you feel that way. I too know many asshole cops. But I know thousands who are not. I also have dealt with many asshole boat owners.
It pisses me off when people lump everyone together for a bad experience. If thats true about being pulled out of the car for not smiling (Bullshit), there is more to that story.
Everyone has a right to their opinion, but if thats the way you feel, next time you need help or your car is stolen or worse yet, your child is missing, take care of it yourself. Dont waste their time when they can help someone who appreciates what they do.
As far as the DUI fines and license issue. Cops dont set fines and they dont give the licenses back. The courts, judges, and DMV do that.
And to answer your question "What do I know"...I would have to say not to much..

I used to have the same opinion that 78 recently expressed about Cops.
But once I grew up and took responsibility for my actions. and realized that I was the one that was putting others in danger with my actions. I kinda changed my opinion.
I still get mad when I get caught, But I also realize that It was me that did what I did.... No one else ....
I must be getting old, cuz I'm starting to sound like my Father.

Hey 78eliminator
I figured out what your problem is. You have only been exposed to the few bad cops out there.
This summer we will have to get together at the river and have a few beers. I am a cop and I think I am a pretty good one, although I do have my occasional bad days.
Maybe I can change your opinion of us. If not, thats OK too. The very least you get a few cold ones, cant be too bad.
let me know

You know, I am having the winter blues. And some times that along with some other shit makes me feel like the world is after me. Sorry if I offended you. I'll have a cold one with you any time. I know that cops are just people and there are good and bad ones....

Just wondering
Does the fuzz out there do "license checks" also known as random drunk checks, drug searches, and generally anything we can easily write you a ticket for check?
I'm not real busy or anything so it doesn't bother me to wait on some motorcycle cop search down a scruffy looking Redneck and his truck looking for his license.
However, I've noticed the officer generally doesn't approve when try to take pictures to commemorate the experience.

First of all,
JBB has sent me funny cop stuff over at Havasu Barney's since mid 01, and over here as well. It's inside "cop" humor. If anyone finds it offensive,....hey, I say sorry it bothers you, all professions have inside humor, I understand most people have a grudge with police work when it affects them in a negative fashion, I know I did. I used to take boaters on this board to task when they made sweeping negative stereotypes of all cops. In reality, most of those who had negative run ins with the law brought the situation on themselves, and I'm not talking about bad attittudes during a traffic stop. If you don't understand that you can ask for a supervisor to respond to a scene or get a business card to make a complaint against an officer for what you feel is bad behavior or worse, then you've been living under a rock.
What I find silly is all the cops on these boards that want to keep what they do in private so that they can "be cool" with other board boaters who don't like cops. I say if you can't say what you do for a living up front, what's the point of having friends that don't like what you do? The issue of safety for yourself (cops hiding what they do) is a useless point here as the only illegal thing boaters do in general is drunk driving. Have'nt seen any gang members around here, they can't understand what torque is, let alone afford a boat.
In closing, I welcome all rants, disparaging remarks and mud slinging at cops, it's better people vent on a silly website than hold it in, life's too short to be all "pissy" about someone else's bad attitude. Breaking down an individual "bad" incident with police and looking at what really happened takes a lot more honesty and integrity than most people around here care to contribute. I've met some good friends on this board I boat with and know who I would'nt hang around with. Everyone's true "colors" come out around here over time.
To each his own, let the hot days come sooner than later,
And to see what I do for a living, check out the video at www.internationaltactical.com

Yea what Lowriver said. Some cops even have lots of tattoos and brag about how many people they killed in Vietnam even though they are too young to have been there. Huh Lowriver?:D

sorry dog
02-04-2004, 10:30 AM
LR - you're right- I'd rather vent here than be pissed at the average black and white.
Everytime (but once) I got a speeding ticket I was definately speeding and the cop was just enforcing the law. I was pissed everytime but I got over it but I've been treated more than fairly at times too.
However, the random envasive check shit just pissed me off because I see that as a loss of freedom. An that cannot be blamed on anything else but the department/piss ant town instructing to cops to be dicks. Maybe they were picked on growing up and enjoy giving back or maybe they hate the duty, but the side effect is probably gonna be for dope smoking teenager you catch there will the 10 people pissed at the methods. Unfortunately that anger gets directed at the mass of you guys that don't conduct your business that way.
I'm done for now.
Feel free to knock me down in line...
