View Full Version : Where do you get your boat serviced?

I know it's still cold out. The L.A. boat show has put a lot of people in the boating mode. Many are thinking about having there boat serviced before the big summer season. Where do you take your boat and why do you think it's the best place to have it serviced?

I do most of my own routine maintenance like engine oil changes, fuel filters, water impellers, drive fluids, etc. But for the annual major go through; Savage in Havasu or locally Mavrick Marine in Van Nuys. The later really knows his Merc stuff.....:D

"The Boat Brokers" have done my basic services and warranty work for the last two years. I've had my 100 hour service and the oil/fuel/filter changes.
They have been good at picking my boat up from storage and returning it with messing it up.
Anything else anyone thinks I need checked before the season?

I change my oil once a month when I use it in the summer and right before parking it for the winter.
By doing it yourself you find that you know it was done right.

I do most of it myself, but Larry's Engine and Marine here in Tucson is the only shop around here I trust. Lakeland in Havasu has done a couple things for us and they have also always been great.

I've only dealt with him twice. The first time he seemed so-so and the second time he sent me some broken steering parts. I chaulked it up to a $150 lesson and moved on.
I don't know how he is with poodles.
