Alright, I was at PF Changs tonight for an hour- came out and realized the new escalade handles on my 06 Duramax was trashed. Someone broke into my truck, but it appears nothing was stolen (luckily). It does have the stock alarm and keyless entry--its obviously not enough. I need an alarm that has an ignition kill, keyless entry, and aux outlets. I am buying an alarm within the next 24 Hours--need some good recommendations.
Thanks,
Patrick

waste of money...
there is no system a good thief won't get past in under 60 seconds, and if the system just fails on its own now you're stranded...when it gets towed in with the aftermarket alarm malfunctioning all I can do is give you a quote to remove it and return to stock

I have the Viper 479 installed on my truck. It has a remote paging feature that vibrates and beeps when the alarm is triggered.

Go see Dave Evans at Al & Ed's in Ontario, he runs the joint and just hooked the wife's new Tahoe up with a nice Clifford. Remote start, pager, kill switch, pinned hood, etc......Tell him you're a hot boater and he'll take care of you. The reality is that if they want your stuff they're going to take it but I figure give them a least a reason to think twice.....one car has an alarm one doesn't which one are they going to go for???? That's my opinion.
PM if you need Dave's number or have any questions,
Chris

Even if your car is your drive way and you are inside your house, I can break into your car, steal anything I want thats there and be gone b4 you can get out side.
most ppl don't even pay attention to car alarms other then to say "some a$$ holes car alarm is going off...."

so how long does it take you to wake up, get out of bed, get your gun and run out side? You can steal a car out of a drive way in less then 30 seconds. Just ask your local repo guy how long it takes him to take your car. :)

In that case why don't I leave the keys in it and the door open........ I don't the "Professional" theif is out stealing car stereos. A good alarm while isn't foolproof but it stops the punk thug teenagers out looking for trouble and a cheap stereo. You still need to take the necessary precautions to protect what you work so hard to attain and enjoy. kapashe brother man?

i have the viper as well. its a great alarm. there are a couple things that you should change though. people don't pay attention to the alarms, thats true. do not hook the alarm up to the siren that is provided. hook it to your factory horn. i have a superduty, and when mine goes off, there isn't anyone within a two block radius that doesn't look. tie it into the running lights or headlights as well. second, put a secondary disable besides the starter interrupt that is provided. my secondary is a kill on the fuel pump. you can also use an interrupt on the injection pump as well. on a ford or a chevy, you can get the alarm brain back behind the head unit. if the wiring is done correctly it is almost impossible to tell that their is an alarm installed up under the dash. spend the money for someone that actually knows how to do proper wiring. hide and tape everything so it isn't seen. oh, shelby makes a clone of the viper that is a little less money, but has a little better range on the remote.

Who cares about an alarm. If they want your vehicle badly enough they'll just tow it away and shut the alarm of later.

Good morning Patrick,
Sorry to hear about your truck. Did you have ANY banking information in your truck? If so, that seems to be a BIG target for these fockers. Ask Warlock25. They can take the smallest piece of information and turn it into cash. Call your bank and have them put a security hold on your accounts or close them today.
Good luck ol' friend!
Mark
PS. I have a Viper with remote start..

Sorry to hear Patrick, thank goodness the truck is not harmed. We've got the UNGO that does the same thing as the Viper and I've also got a hook up. :) Heck, who doesn't on this site?? Good luck with all of this. I agree with OGS. He might be onto something.

i feel and always will that you cant stop a thief . but you can suprise them and maybe catch them. with that being said all my alarms dont show a led light. so they breakin and the alarm all of a sudden goes off. they will maybe panic. ( i have had the cars broken into since, but have not had one stereo stolen or anything missing) and i have chased them down 3 times and catch them. i then look for id so i get their name and address for myself. if only i can get dressed quicker id catch somemore.
on the boat we have an alarm with a zone sensor. that warns with a beep if your within 10 ft from the boat. and goes off as soon as your head pops over the swim deck or the bow.
in my opinion clifford makes some of the best alarms

Well, I agree with the fact that if a thief wants your whole truck, there is nothing that will keep it in place. They will get it, regardless.
But, mine got broken into the first year I had it. Right in my front yard. Broke a window, unlocked the doors, and sat in there to surgically removed the stereo. Nice, that they didn't hack wires - They removed the wires from the connectors! Must have taken a half an hour. Plus, rummaged around for whatever else. It just sucked that they spent some time in there. I felt violated.
I ended up with a Clifford Concept 400. It is now called something else, but it has the zone sensor that is adjustable. I have it set to go off if anything disturbs the window plane (breaks and a hand or other object comes inside the door). But, better than that, it give a couple of loud chirps if someone stands within 2 feet of the truck. It even covers into the bed. I have watched at parking lots and it definitely keeps people away.
The Clifford has never falsed, and I have had cheaper alarms that did all the time (Prestige).
