I'm still chewing on grizzle since the last poll. Try this:Steak House Poll (http://www.***boat.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37571)

Checked out that POLL....JEEZ, looks like Golden Horeshoe won the poll but RODS won the thread comments! Do either of these compare to or exceed a place like RUTH CHRIS ( picked that one because the are nation wide )?

Sh!t no! None of the Steak Houses in LHC compare with the excellent steak houses around the country. Everything is relevant.

Thanks for your honesty ESSEX.....OK how about a fine upscale restaurant instead of a steak house.

I would have to go with Shugrue's for the nicest upscale restaurant.

Agreed. It is especially cool because you can boat up to it, park on the beach and go eat dinner.

No offense, but the last time I went to Krystal's was the only time...I thought they were overpriced, overcooked and a lousy cut of meat.

Ditto on Shugrues as the top pick for a nice restaurant in LHC.

I also like Mudshark's a lot since it is entirely non-smoking so that I don't smell like an ashtray when I leave. Good food and reasonable prices.
Montana's Steak House is pretty good but they let me down last Saturday night by way-overcooking my ribeye and giving me crap about being booked solid because of Valentine's Day. The bartender got us served in the bar but the food wasn't up to their usual quality.
The GOlden Horseshoe is the best place at the moment for a good steak but a bit of a drive to the north of town.

I have only eaten there once and it was very good.Maybe it had something to do with towing the owner and his family into windsor launch late one afternoon with white caps on the lake.We towed them for an hour and twenty minutes, and broke 2 ropes, theirs of course. They were really appreciative,so the owner pointed to his shirt which said Krystals on it,and told us to come in for dinner,so we did and the dinner was completely paid for,he comped the meal drinks everything. His daughter waited on us and was very nice and gave us fantastic service. When we arrived, there was a wait list and people outside waiting to be seated, they had a table waiting and seated us immediately.

Shugrues has the best Ahi this side of the coast. Is Tuna local?

You can keep Krystal's. Like some one said, over priced and over cooked.
My choice is Golden Horseshoe but Shugrues is rapidly turning into a good spot. Big plus is park the boat in the channel or in front of the condos and walk into it to with reservations that you phoned in from the lake.
Did that twice last season and worked great.:D

He was looking for a nice restaurant and the Horshoe isn't it. Actually the horseshoe isn't even a good restaurant let alone a nice one, but to each their own.

Yes .... Havasu City
Have been there 3 times and did have time to check out the local dining hot spots......too much boating and drinking. This time would like to spend some time checking out other areas before and after the poker run. I kinda liked the pull in your boat concept which we are used to here (great water clubs with very good food and drink). Some also have dance clubs attached. Does anyone have the phone number for Shugrue's? Havasu is a great area and loads of fun....no reason in my mind why they couldn't have a high end steak place CIGARETTE 1 .

Sushi in the middle of the Arizona desert??
Unless It's bass or trout sushi, I'll stick to the steaks in Havasu.

Again, Shugrue's for Lobster. I don't particularly care that much for it but the wife does and she always has it there.

Gotta agree Shugrue's is pretty cool for the drive up factor and the food is pretty good. If you're still interested in a Steak House and keeping in mind we are talking about LHC, Montana's is pretty good and each time I've gone the service has been very good. If you're just looking for good eats Juicy Noodles is good as well. Just MHO and I can be just as wrong as anyone else here, but I'm pretty confident you won't feel a need to get on here and blast me after you have tried these places. Good Luck.

Gotta second Shugrues as a fine place to eat, and for lobster I would recomend the Frigate. Its close to the bridge area and has a big orange lobster on the building. Excellante!

Krystals has been our favorite.
Plenty of others, but Krystals still has the small town quality the chains restaurants don't.

H4215 - No Blastin on the boards. We are out for a good time, good parties and a fun poker run. The food is is 3 or 4 on the priority list. We will hit most of the places you guys suggested and I am sure they will all be good. At least better than "THE PIZZA PARTY" before the run on Friday. Even the AHBA guys said " Don't focus on the chow the beer will flow like like a HYDRO PLANT" coutesy of The King of Beers!
Would not mind a few CL's though !
:D :D :D
