Valvoline is supposed to have the highest content of zinc or somthing in its formula, from what i remember from what i have read in the past,
back in the day i was chief oil changer on a top fuel hydro from NJ
triple digit racing
http://topfueldragboat.com/
you know if works on nitro , it has tobe good ,it only has to hold up 2-3 minutes of warm up
and 5 seconds of WOT
i am currently using royal purple

I feel this is NOT a true synthetic motor lubricant. It ain't a bad oil, but if you're going to kick down the big bucks for a synthetic lubricant, get a real one and not a petroleum based molecule that was restructured in the lab. Castrol Syntec used to be a true synthetic lubricant, but they quietly changed the formula (starting with dino oil now) and the public didn't know it...until they were taken to court by a group of synthetic lubricant manufacturers.
All the synthetics mentioned above are good lubricants...Torco, Royal Purple, Valvoline Racing Synthetic, etc. I myself use Mobil 1 or Amsoil and have two 12-inch tall, 7-micron rating oil filters. The petroleum-based Valvoline Racing is also a very good dino oil.
Lubrication has come a lo-o-o-o-o-ong way since the time most of our ***boats were built and just about all of the oils out there are superior to what was available at the time of the motor's orignal manufacture.

14 quarts of Valvoline straight 50 wt Racing Oil(NOT legal for street use type), because it's not a "street" JetBoat. RR

Mobil 1 15-50 synthetic. Without an oil cooler, jet boat oil typically runs very hot...250-280 F or more. I think the higher temperature resistance (to breakdown) of synthetics is worth the expense even for a 10 qt pan.

I've used 10w-40 Castrol blend since I built the circus boat's 460 3 years ago. I have around 100 hours on it since then, and pulled down the bottom end Sunday for inspection. The rod and main bearings look like the day I put them in 3 years ago. Don't know what else I could ask for in an oil.
