Once I have been at WOT for about 15-20 seconds I start losing rpm's. I don't touch the throttle, and it backs down? There is no fuel starvation. The setup I have is a early 80's points distributor. Someone told me that it could be timing? Would that be too far advanced or not enough advance? Does anyone have a clue??? The setup I have is a 383 sbc with an OMC outdrive (1983). Thanks for your input.

Check this link, it's the same problem my '88 5.7/Cobra (350cu in) did and I did the points/timing as per the article, bought me more RPM's too! http://www.***boat.net/samplearticle/ENGINETUNINGFORMAXIMUMPERFORMANCE_dir/ENGINETUNINGFORMAXIMUMPERFORMANCE_s.htm

Can also be a lack of fuel.
