We just picked up the new boat. Here's a list of things we got with it and a few photos:D .
-427 roller motor
-2 stainless tanks
-4 props
-2 new seats
-2 sets of gears
-and everything else needed to put together a boat
The only things we still need is induction, (which I think we'll have this week) plumbing, (will get that from Superdave) and powdercoating and polishing all the hardware (which we'll do in the next couple weeks). We're going to take off the pan and check a couple bearings tomorrow and then we'll start polishing the floor. Any advice for doing the floor?

Boat Mike... I can't believe you haven't sold the Shovelnose yet... No way it can be built for what your asking... Bring it back up to CFW on Fathers day if you still have it...I'm sure it will sell there..

Sangster if it's not gone by then the blower motor is going to be in the Picklefork hydro and the natuarlly asperated motor will be in the shovelnose. Ya can't even come close to building the motor for what i would take for the thing. I got to tell you this boat is a hell of a bang for the buck, those of you who saw this thing at Modesto and at CFW two years ago know it is really clean. Somone is going to end up with a hell of a boat and a hell of a deal.http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/524/753Picture_011-med.jpg

Sangerster I would sell the Shovelnose with this motor in it for $9000.00 and the boat would still run over 100+mph with no problem.http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/520/753Picture_022-med.jpg

I remember that boat. I test drove it several years ago when a prior owner (?) was selling it. He wanted way too much for it then. The hull was in great shape. The motor was a father/son project. It looks like it still has the old "hemi" ??? v-drive in it. Maybe someone here has parts for it, but I think they are hard to find. As I recall the motor needed some work as it didn't run real good. His price then was in the five figure area. Glad to see you got it Ian. Keep it in the County.

you're right the hull is in great shape, all we need to do is polish the floor, there isn't a crack in it. The motor looks good we tore it down today and the bearings look great, it has a roller cam and roller rockers, forged rods and pistons, cast crank, (atleast it's balanced) and rectangular port heads. we're going to throw a tunnel ram and some 600's on it.

Picked up a tunnel ram, two 600's and a scoop from sangerboy today for a smoking deal. All we need to do now is clean it up, polish the scoop and shine up the headers that were on the Cole. Also got a polished vertex mag, so the project is already coming along.

Hey Ian, Looks like you got heck of a boat and a great deal too, I gotta say I'm a little jealous but i'm glad you guys got it and it's got a good home. You've got to take me for a ride at the river this summer, looking forward to seeing it. Keep us posted on the progress.

Speedin' Ian

No problem HPG you can have a ride anytime, though I'm not expecting record speeds:) . Still need some odds and ends before we start reassembly. I think Gunslinger has some of the parts we need but I'll post everything just incase.
Parts we still need:
-three turnbuckles
-cavitation plate control arm
-round plate pads (mounts turnbuckle to plate)
-one chrome transom bearing
-cavitation plate return spring kit
-mechanical tach and tach drive
-throttle linkage for dual carbs (see above pic of carb set-up)
-engine mounting blocks (may fab these ourselves to save a couple bucks)

03-03-2004, 10:02 AM
Ian call me about your stickers and parts. I have a transom bearing and cavitation arm for you guys. I have not located the turnbuckles or mounting pads, but I have them in the garage somewhere. Will take another look this weekend. Sorry for the delay.

Is the same Ian I met at Needles last year? I had the 19 hallet bubble deck with the freshly restored trailer with SS fenders and L.e.D. taillights. Just curious. Nice boat you have there1

Hey HotHallet, yeah it's the same Ian. Sorry I'm just now responding, I just got back from a 3 dayer in Mammoth. How is that boat of yours? I heard you're putting a new motor in it?
