Is there any way to fix header discoloration other than having it rechromed? I had put some polish on it a forgot to clean it off. This is just from firing it up to idle for a short period of time.

I have tried just about everything. But this is the best hands down. My headers look like new. Here is the web site.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I will try the blue begone from casswell plating. I will get back with the results.

Blue Away and Blue Begone are basically the same thing - AJAX powdered cleanser and water. Try mixing your own for a lot less money. You can also mix in a little toothpolish. Play with the mixture until you like the results - just remember, AJAX is an abrasive, so start out with small amounts and use and cotton buffing wheel [5"] on an electric drill to make it easier. Something else you can do after shining them up - fing some hi-temp paint that has the same type nozzle as a can of WD-40. Find a LONG WD-40 tube and put it in the paint nozzle - insert tube as far up your headers as it wil go and start spraying while slowly withdrawing the tube. This helps cut down on blue/discoloration and really works on new headers, but will help a lot on older ones.

i have yet to try this yet... well mainly cuz i'm affraid but baby oil is suppose to remove stains in chrome. I was searching google one night and found numerous sites telling me to use vinegar to clean them, and baby oil to get our stains. I tryed the vinegar, it did seam to brighten them up a bit but not as must as i would like. I think i need somthing stronger as these headers are in pretty bad shape. I ran accross this stuff too.. http://www.gokart.net/shop-utopia/bluejob/ Not sure if it works for not but i was tempted to try it.
Oh ya, after my rant i forgot to tell you why i was affriad to use baby oil, i didnt know if when the headers got hot if it would burn. baby oil isnt the easyist stuff to get off. A site was talking about using it on a toaster, dunno if that counts :D

I ordered the blue begone kit from caswell and it works!!!! It takes a little elbow grease but it does work. Tried it a little with the header still on the boat. It takes some work and made a mess in my boat but it does work. I am going to take both headers off and work them over when I get a chance. Thanks jimthetoolman. As far as the price goes, the kit I ordered from caswell was about 25.00.

Yes, that is the Blue-Away! Thanks for posting the link. Neither of the local Harley dealers carry it for some odd reason. I've used it before on Harleys, and it works great. I've been looking for it for about a year now, and ordered some off the site you posted. Thanks again!
