Im planning on attending this run. If we meet at the Huntington Break water at 9:30am, How far is it south to the Power Station area? I just want to make sure im not late. Im planning on launching in Long Beach and then heading south to Huntington meeting whom ever and then continuing south. Anyone else launching out of Long Beach that I can hook up with for the ride south?

It will probably take you about 15 minutes or so to get to the meeting area from Long Beach.....I'm not sure, but there will probably be some people leaving from LB as well. As it gets closer to the event, check here and also on the scope board for the latest details.....

How are you gonna get there Greg? I thought you sold the 29? :D

Good point...
I won't know for sure until later this week, but I might be delivering the 29 to the new owner this Sat, which would mean that I'd have to miss this lunch run. :yuk:
After the 29 is gone, I plan to sit on the docks with my thumb out and bum rides until the new boat is ready.... :D

So who else is going out on saturday?
Does anyone have a GPS location of the powerstation area, or land marks to look for.
Jeff

3do,
Keep your eyes out for a big "powerstation" looking thing on the coast near HB pier.. :D :D There are big smokestacks on the beach that you should be able to see, and also you should be able to find the group of boats that are meeting up. I think that I have sold my boat and could be delivering it to the new buyer on Sat, or I'd tell you to look out for my boat. If you watch the catalina brunch run video here, you can see the powerstation at the meeting spot at about the 1:20-1:30 mark in the video. http://www.scopeinfo.com/Videos.htm#18
I'll find somebody who's going for sure and get you in touch with them..
Greg

My boat sold faster than I thought it would, which is a good thing.. I'll be boatless for a little while, so you might see me at Lido with my thumb out trying to bum a ride over the next few months.. :D
The next boat is just a little somthin' from the west-side..... Here's the new power.. :D

The run was real fun, all the guys and girls were very cool. Water was smooth and the weather could not have been better. Thank god for that catalina eddy, it made for a very nice, warm, sunny day out at the island.

Here's a video that somebody on the trip put together and posted. Dial-uppers beware it's 13mb. Also requires
quicktime player if you have trouble. Download from

Holy shucks, I've never seen pictures of such smooth water. You could do the Catalina Ski Race in record time, except that the skiers can blow your motors in glass like that...
