I have a 01 silverado with a 6in RCD suspension lift on my truck right now. I want to go higher. I dont have the money currently for a new suspension kit so i am interested in a body lift. I know performance accessories has a 3 in kit. I am curious if anyone knows of a 4in quality kit. I want to possibly be able to fit 36's without rubbing. Any info would be great

A 4" may start to cross the "looks goofy" line IMHO.

Is it a 4x4? If so, 36's will probably fit will some minor adjustment. (trim front bumper plastic so tire won't rub in tight turns)
35's fit fine on a 6" RCD so 36's mut be close unless their real wide or the wheels have incorrect backspacing:cool:

Oh yeah, to get back to the original question, body lifts suck:p

If you have an aftermarket intake that includes a different intake tube (K&N for instance), it will no longer fit with a body lift. Something to consider before doing it.

it is two wheel drive and i do have an intake. That is something to think about. Thanks for the info. I know body lifts are my favorite thing either but i want to go higher.

That's cool. A 3" and some quality time spent f@cking around with the intake setup should give the results you're looking for. Be sure to cover up that space between the body and frame with something like black plastic or diamond plate....seeing light through the truck looks lame:rolleyes:

If you do it put lift lips in the fenderwells, have the hitch ears cut and move it up to match the bottom of the bumper. Body lifts are not bad to gain some additional clearance but the goal is to make it look like it does not have a body lift! I am in the same boat as you as I have a '95 Silverado with a 6" susp. lift and 33's but would like to run 35's being that I have regeared my rearend to 4.56 gears and my truck tachs 3,000 rpm at 75 mph. A body lift may be in the cards for me as well. You may want to address a re-gear on your rearend if you have not already. If the truck has 3.73 gears you will lose lots of power going to a bigger tire. I would recommend a 4.56 app for a 36-inch tire and be prepared to replace tires more often. Also have you upgraded your stock brake system. The additional weight and rotating mass of 36-inch tires on aftermarket wheels can put a strain on stock brakes and add towing into the mix and problems can arise. I put a Stillen Statix kit on my '95 Chevy and it works great for daily driving and towing. I work for Truckin' magazine so if you have any questions send me a PM and I would be happy to try and help you out.

thanks hothallet for your help. I def. would get some gap guards to cover up the gap between the frame and body.

IMHO Body Lifts Suck, save your money for a bigger suspension lift. Besides, are you in that a big of a hurry to suck more gas at $2.25 a gallon? Larger tires are more expensive, wear out faster, and cause more wear and tear on the braking system. If you do much hill climbing, it is better to keep the center of gravity lower anyway. A few things to think about anyway.

I have a 99 GMC Suburban 2500 with a 6" Superlift and 35" tires. I don't have any problem. I have been thinking about a 2" body lift just to get 38" tires under it.

02 Chevy HD
2x
6" RCD
3" Body
35" Tires
With Gap Covers.
Would have gone suspension but that cost to much. Wanted a system in the boat instead. I guess you can all have it all NOW
Doesn't look bad though.

Here's mine. It has a 6" Suspension Lift, 4" Custom Body lift, 12 shocks (3 on each corner), Traction Bars, Front and Rear Skid Plates, Cutout fenders with Bushwacker flares, etc etc. This pic shows 35's on it but I purchased some new 38's yesterday. No problem with the bigger tires because of the 10" lift and the Bushwacker Cutout Flares. I don't have any lift lips on it because I don't really see a reason to put them on. I think it looks fine how it is..... BTW, I just listed these 35" tires and wheels for sale in the Tow Rigs section
