This boat was just passed down to me so I don't know much about the boat.....but I'll list what I've been told about it:
I'm told it's a 1972 Cheetah, somewhere around 18ft. It has a 460 Ford with Berkeley JC pump. It looks like it has full stringers. The boat hasn't ran since '95. At that time it was running ok but needed a major tune up.
The hull appears to be in pretty good shape. The trailer is also in good shape but needs tires/wheels. It was stored in AZ for many years so there isn't any rust. I have no idea the condition of the pump/motor but it was running the last time out. The upholstery is cracked but is still there. There isn't any carpet. It's full on "stuff" right now but you get the picture. It will need some TLC to get going again (how much I don't know) but at least it could be a good project boat for someone.
If anyone is interested please PM me or email me at river_brian@sbcglobal.net
Also, if someone can help me post these pics I would really appreciate it!!!! :D

Does it have a "clean" title?
Is there another reason for such a low price, besides that fact he really really needs the cash? Just want to know before I inform a friend of mine who may want it.

mudpumper,
the boat is here in L.A. (I live near LAX).
Ty,
Yes the titles are clean. I don't have them in my possession yet but I should this weekend. The reason for the low price is because the guy who owns this thing just wanted to get rid of it. He's buying a new house and this boat has been sitting in his driveway for 8 years.
Wicked,
the only way I'd sell the trailer is if I end up having to part this thing out....but I'm going to try selling it complete first. I'll keep you in mind. :D

There was a boat mfr. called cheetah in Knoxville, (I think). They built lot's of sterndrives, I believe they built Cimarron boats too. They went tits up inthe late 80's or early 90's. We had an '86 cheetah with a merc 4cyl and an alpha. Shit, it may not even be the same company. Had the same name tho.

Cheetah boats was right here in so cal, Bob Burns was and still is (I think) the owner/builder of the company. I think they're in AZ now though. His roots go back to the early to mid 60's boat building.

Looking at the transoms of the cheetah & the e-bay sleekcraft it almost looks like they were designed by the same guy.

I had a `69 Sleekcraft that looked just like it. Outboard though. Came with a Merc 90. I just had to put my Black Max 200 on it though. It didn`t help things.:D

Brian, I'm about two hours from LA. This would be a perfect project for my boy and I. If you still have it, I will come down this week with the cash. Thanks Jay. jayhamel@earthlink.net Let me know.

I've decided to keep this boat after much debate
Thanks to everyone that has emailed me regarding it....but this boat is going to be my river cruiser for the next few years.
On the other hand....I will be putting up for sale my other jet boat, a 74 Jencraft (sp?). It has a 455 Olds with a Berkeley JC. The boat is in good running condition but really needs a paint job. I've sanded down to the original gel and that's as far as I got. If anyone is interested please email me at river_brian@sbcglobal.net. Im asking $1350
Also, I have the pink slips for both the boat and trailer :D

Looking at the "Baja - Venice" deal on the back makes me wonder if the crazy man ever drove that thing in the high seas down to Baja. It's doable, you just need to reserve the passenger seat for your nuts......
