That scoop opening would be facing to the rear if it was in a Jet, to the front if it was in a V-Drive

Can you explain that to me? Why would you have a scoop facing backwards?

This is simpler than it looks.. it came off a V-DRIVE the engine sits in the hull back words so to speak hence the name V-drive so the scoop would be facing the back which it is ... I know circle boats can be the exception plus if you didnt notice the top of the intake shows the short end facing the rear also which would also indicate it came out of a V-drive...OK>>ok

Ahhhh...But there is another possibility. In the State of CA, If s coop is facing forward, it MUST have flame arrestors. If it's facing backwards, I don't think they're required (At least they didn't used to be)
