Can't see them coming out with a new one after just releasing the 6.0. I have an 04' 350 Dually 4x4 with the 6.0. Love it. Tows like nothing, is quiet, and gets great mileage.

Sounds like bad info. I have a 6.0L in a 2003 Excursion, it rocks. No one ever talks about the 4speed +OD tranny that is built with a 250,000 mile service life. When Ford announces the end of the line for the Ex I'm going to buy a new one. Wish I could afford two. There ain't gonna be any more vehicles made like the Fordasaurus.

Buy all the warranty you can. The new motor is still buggy. Watch you engine oil level. If it's rising...then the injectors are leaking. Keep close eye on that.

I read in Automotive News(Trade Pub) that Fords is putting pressure on International to improve their motors or they may look to Cummins or another supplier when their contract runs out in (I think it said) 2007. So an improved engine variant is not out of the question...They did drop the smaller diesel project that was intended for F150 and other 1/2 ton rigs.
The 6.0 has had injector problems, and oil leaks from the mainseal/pan area.....Think most of those issues have been resolved for the most part.
I've got the 7.3 PSD---bone stock motor/controls and love its towing capability.

They had many more issues other than oil leaks and injector problems.
Sounds like they have work out the issues though, I am still happy with our new Duramax.

Last I heard they were holding production on the 6.0 because they were scattering as fast as they were being built :o
Duramax rocks :D

The new motor will be a 6.4l. I heard it was slated for the 2006 model. The 6.0l has some "reliability" issues.

02....
Ya I've seen some injectors leak on those too, and stick. Almost all could be blamed by fuel quality. Rust in the injector = shit fuel. I think Ford and Dodge both use a similar BOSCH injector/common rail system......
04, up 70 ft/lbs to 590 and looks like the injectors are easier to get at. Nice of them....
Recommend secondary fuel filter to any diesel owner, Ford, Dodge whatever. Cat has a filter that goes down to 2 microns
