I know this is a boat site, but I was checking out the new 2005 Mustang yesterday. I've owned trucks for 25 years, but this is a car that I could see myself in. 300HP engine, classic looks. I like it.

Thing looks good. Has anyone heard about the performance #'s on the thing? I would like to see some more power out of it, but that is just me.

ITS ALL GOOD

I would like to see some more power out of it, but that is just me. Nothing a little procharger couldn't fix.

The GT40 is way too much money for me, but a nice laminated poster of one hanging in the garage would be nice. :D
I do agree that a little supercharger on the Mustang would wake things up big time. Even 300 HP would move it along nice.

JB, won't be long before the chevy guys will chime in to find something wrong with it;) :p . In Hot rod mag some peeps already critisizing the GT 40 for lack of power  . John Coletti knows his stuff and they don't tell the true HP figures on these cars. The 426 hemi was more likely around 500 HP ,so is the gt 40 will be way above the rated HP. My 96 GT was rated at 215HP SAE .Guess what ,I pull a constant 250 rearwheel on my Gtech meter:D . BTW I like cheby's as well ;) ,and would love to have that new 720 HP crate motor in my boat they have .Or settle with the 620 HP model that takes pumpgas.

Brop16 , like that dodge myself [ had cuda, challenger and charger in the paaaaast;) ] but them dodge boys should watch out when the 500HP lightning coming out:p .I drove lightnings that do 13.5 sec on the 1/4 BONESTOCK with 380 HP.Wonder what 500 vill do:cool: ?

There's a new Shelby Cobra coming out as well. It looks bad ass too.

I sold my Mustang Cobra for a Corvette Z06 and I am so pleased I did. Although, the new Mustang looks sweet, the wife wants one bad. I think a new convertible GT is in the future.

Man, I gotta disagree about that thing. It looks like the second coming of the MustangII. You know, the "Pinto" Mustang. Me no likey. Ford continues to drop the stylistic ball every damn year....

What?? You didn't like the Pinto?? It's a ****ing classic. But, back to the new Mustang. I see visions of the 69/70 on the front end. The steering wheel with the original emblem is like the 67/68s. The backend, well,,,,,,just other guys have to look at that!! :D The Mustangs went down hill from about 72 - mid 90s in my opinion, and I have never really been wanting one. I have always been a Camaro guy (owned a 70 1/2" Z-28, 77 Z-28), but I like this car. My Dad rally raced Ford Falcons and Mustangs from 63 through 69 as a Ford sponsored driver in the Shell 4000 rallies up in Canada and this would be for him too. Those rallies were 4000 miles from Vancouver to Halifax. He had some pretty cool gear for them days.
