If you cry about big pics just move on. I like them myself so it would be nice if the mod didn't resize them.
If you have never been to Prime Marine ya might want to swing by and take a look.
In a nut shell my project schiada has been sitting forever. The main hold up is getting the strut and v drive installed.
A few reasons for the delay are:
1. lack of time
2. lack of space to get the boat set up level and off the trailer where I can get at it.
3. lack of balls. It's been hard for me to crawl under there with a saw and start cutting on the bottom of my boat. lol
So with that in mind I've been thinking of who I'm going to send it out to for the running gear install. I mean, I want to get the facker done and I want it done right. I was kicking around the few shops that do this type of stuff and Prime kept comming up. I've never delt with them before but always scope out their ski race stuff. Top notch stuff comes out of there. Then I asked a few people and they agreed that Prime is the place.
I took my boat and parts out there and met with Mike. He scoped it all out and is going to take care of it. I think Mike liked that billet Menkens V drive that's going in the boat. :) Maybe he'll put one in that Hondo.
Now when was the last time you went to a boat shop and EVERY boat in the place was a v drive? (Their twin outdrive boat must have been in the big race trailer) The place was full of v drives from wild to projects just underway.
Well you guys know me and I just had to snap a few pics.
Here's my project rolling in the door.

CNC guys eat your heart out. :) I would give my left nut to have a nice CNC but lots of cool parts were made before the CNC era. And they still are. Take a look at these cav plate bosses and transom bearings. All I can say is wow. Top shelf work comming off that old handle machine if you ask me.
All of the hardware for this Hondo is just plain sick and it's all made in house on a knee mill and a manual lathe.
BTW, Sangster did the carbon fiber floor in this boat. It looks smokin too.

I wish I would have taken some more pics of this boat. I will the next time I'm out there.

Hey Superdave, don't tell anyone but I'm picking up my new v-drive on Friday. 21' River Cruiser. Make sure the jetters don't find out. ;) :D
I guess now I really can hang out in the v-drive forums. :D

Right on, you will love it. I wish mine was a 21 but it's only a 20'.
It looks like a 21 but when they are right next to each other mines alot smaller.
So spill the details on the boat your getting.

haha, I knew you would say that dave. He said he did it on a rotary table. I do know for a fact that the equipment that he used in not near as nice as yours.
Just goes to show that alot of it is the guy truning the cranks and not the machine it's self.

Sweet Dave! The guys at Prime are top notch. Just make sure they don't park your boat next to Damon's Schiada, it blows through more oil than the Valdez, you wouldn't want any oil drippin' on that nice new gel of yours.:D

I have had my 22 Schiada next to a 21. I was very surprised how much smaller the 21 is.

Dave, What are they charging you? I will need the same to my 22' Schiada. 7.5 Strut, 1 1/8 shaft, Menkens BadAss V-Drive Mounted! I hate to cut and drill also, so I will also probably chicken out...John

superdave i know what you mean about setting the strut i did this my self changed from 12 degrees to 7 1/2 degrees. did it upside down with the keel at 0 degrees. and then checked rightside up with the stringers at 0 degrees and guess what the strut is still at 7 1/2 degrees. here's a pic of it. oh it's a21 raysoncraft.

I wanted to do it. But my boat is all re gelcoated and I have no way to flip it over like that. And if I did I would have to rush to get it done and out of the way.
It looks like your strut is a bolt on. Did you recess the mounting flange flush with the hull? Also are you goin to put a blast plate on yours? Mine didn't have one before and the hull was getting eaten up pretty bad. I think it would be worse with the lower shaft angle.

21rayson
03-17-2004, 07:50 PM
yes i did recess it and yes i'm going to put a blast plate on. i kinda wish i put a drop thru fin in but i figured this is only going to be a lake boat anyway.

Good to finally see some progress. Looks like you will have to polish the cav plates now.
Nice parts from Prime indeed. I will have to drop by an offer my services.
The only thing CNC machines are good for, is ****ing up more parts faster.:):) :)

As usual Prime marine was loaded with eye candy!!! What a job these guys have!!
Love the Barron Tom!!! How many flattys are you up to now??? Sweeeet!
Mikey has an old Nordic circle racer, sittin there waiting for the chainsaw. If anyone is interested in a SERIOUS project, I bet they could take that one home for free!!:) CJ, this boat has nostalgia (and a new floor) written all over it!!

Do you have any closer pictures of that one boats twin turbo setup ?
I always like to see how someone else put it together.

Guys please try to keep your pics at 800 wide max. The file sizes get so big it takes forever for the thread to load for those still on dial up and also creates the scroll bar dealio.
Thanks

Don't know about those turbos, but SD013 took some of a 220mph hydro today w/ TURBOS. I'm sure he'll post some pics soon.

Now why couldn't there be a place like that around here, cause
I'd hang out and mop floors and crap for free just to be a part
of a place like that...................
