Went to a similar in Palm Springs about 10 years ago.
A guy wrapped his car around a telephone pole and cut it in half, right behind the front seat (b pillar). Each half was about 100 feet away frm each other. When we arrived, the headlights were still on and the driver was sitting on the curb. Not a scratch.
His biggest worry? La Migra. Lucky mofo
