Does anybody know what a Eliminator "Edge" is? I'm guessing that it's a V-bottom. But I can't find any info on the boat. If somebody has pics please post them! Info would be appreciated too.

I sold mine about 6 months ago. They were only made for about 3-4 years I believe. The technical term for the hull is a mod 'v'. It basically is a v in the front and a tunnel in the back. Much like the cheetah 24'.
Here is a pic of one

THOR:
I've always been intrigued by this hull concept. How did it perform? Didn't Laveycraft have a similar hull too?
I know Hallett has their newer "hybrid" hull, the 260AC, but can't say much good about the look of it.

OH! It's a ModVp hull. I am familiar with that hull type. I have to ask the same question as Jam, how did it perform? What speeds were you seeing with what power/drive?
FYI-this is what the Stokers are based off of.

I ran just shy of 70 mph with a stock 454 mag. My boat was heavy though. It was one of the rare 24' Edges. It weighed about 4200 lbs. Was great in rough water though.

The one that I'm refering to is a 21'. Does anybody know if a 21' really existed or could it really be the 24'?

THOR

I am pretty sure there is a 22', 23' and a 24'. The 23' is the most common. It is a 234. Mine was a 243.

F you LM1. :D
I actually loved that boat, just not the colors. If it were a lighter color, I would still have it.

There was a 23' for sale on this site about a year ago. It had a dark blue hull with wild original orange and red striped interior. I think it had a 454 in it too, with a Bravo outdrive. I heard from a mechanic who owned one some years ago that he thought it was a kidney buster in rough water. I have never ridden in one, but would like to find one in good shape. Are the substitutes listed above made today? I also did not know they came in so many sizes. Why did Eliminator end production of this model?

THOR

I am not 100% on the 22', but I know for sure there is a 23' and 24'. I think they quit making them when the eagles came out.

Guessing here, but I would think they'd ride the best for a boat of it's size. You have the tunnels floating the boat, and the V-bottom for a bit softer landing. The V bow would also help with piercing that tall one.
Thor-do you have a pic of your stern? I'd like to see the bottom profile.

I dont have one off hand, only the top and interior.

That last one I see has a different stern. Could the lack of a swim platform make the 24' a 22'?

THOR
03-24-2004, 01:42 PM
No, these boats were measured to the stern, which makes the 24' a true 24'. Again, mine is the only 243 I have ever seen, ever. It was huge inside too.

From what I have seen they made a 21 and the 234 in the tunnel hull. the 24 was a V hull.

This is another Eliminator Edge, however I am curious if that is true because the windshield is squared off.

Opinions? Is this an Eliminator?

That looks like the 21 Edge they built in the early 90's. They also built a 21 sport tunnel with the same bottom but a different deck. The deck of the sport tunnel was also built with a v-bottom. The Edge deck was built for use with the an I/O. Taller stern. Most sport tunnels had O/B. I owned a 90 sport tunnel with a 200 Merc. It was a great riding boat for its size. It just got to small for the Havasu chop due to its low free board. It was an open bow and would do 60-70 mph depending on conditions.
The problem with the 234 Edge in my opinion is lack of space inside. This due to a long helm area and alot of fiberglass between the rear hatch and back of the boat. When I was looking to upsize I wanted the 234 with an updated deck but at the time Delaminator I mean Elimanator was fazing out this boat and moving into the stepped V's. They said they were faster and rode smoother. Having rid in both bottoms at that time I didn't believe this to be true. If the stepped V's are so awesome why is everyone buying there cats?

Thanks for the pics guys! This is great!
Whipped-would that different deck be the one with the rounded window vs the square window?
Are all the boats pictured here the 24'?

THOR
03-25-2004, 07:40 AM
No, they are the 23's. Mine was the only 24'. Notice how my windshield was a little more rounded?

dorC
03-25-2004, 08:04 AM
I'd hate to say it...but no. The difference between the rounded windshield the square one is obvious. But I can't make out any differences between the two rounded boats.

dorC The big difference is the stern of the boat. The stern of the Edge raises up. This enables an I/O to be placed in without having to have a big bubble hatch. This also gave it some freeboard back there. The sport went straight back. I feel the lines on the sport were cleaner. I will see if I have any pictures of mine. My memory is not good enough to remember what the windshield area looked like. Maybe Eliminator has some old brochures. I think it was Powerboat that did a write up on the sport in 88 or 89. It was a closedbow with a new to the market fuel injected 350. An old friend bought it and had Eliminator put an outboard on it.
Thor I liked the 243 edge. That is a good size boat with alot of room inside. The only ones I have seen have been V- bottoms. Was yours a mod V?

Somewhere, I was told that these hulls were related to the Obsession ModVp hull. Is that true? I know that I did see a Obsession ModVp and it had a major hook in the bottom. The hook was around 6-10' long and looked like it was installed for a reason. Do any of your boats have a hook?

In the mid (?) 80's Eliminator had a production facility in Shawano, Wisconsin. It closed up and re-opened as Obsession using the same Eliminator molds.

Ok, so that's the link. Thanks.
I still need to know if anybody has a hook in their boat. Obsession or Elim.
