Marty, I'm running a Mallory Pro-Comp 250 3/4" line to fuel log w/ 4ea. 3/8" lines to the carbs on my 8/71 w 1050's
Clay Smith makes a Mechanical that puts out 160gpm if you want to bypass all the electrical hassels

Thanx Chris,i Just Wasn't Sure How Much Was Enough.do You Have To Run A Bypass Back To Your Fuel Tank With The Procomp 250?

I swear by the product engineering fuel products. They are expensive, but by far the best continuos duty pump on the market. Ran mine on a 1200+ hp blown carb motor. Yes, you have to run a return system on this one. There are a lot pumps that will meet your requirements, but this one is the most reliable, and larger enough for any future upgrades.

Can I Just Return The Fuel To One Tank, Or Do I Pipe It To Both Tanks? I Don't Want One To Over Fill! May Be A Stupid Question!AND THANX, BOBBY!

Use a Clay Smith with a bypass and be trouble free, plain and simple!..

atx..., if you do go w/ abypass/returtn system, and you use a "t" valve which I recommend, make sure your lines are routed the same and as close to equal as possible, so they return fuel evenly, otherwise you may fill/overfill one side..

I forgot to mention a fuel pump thats only been out a 6-8 months. I don't know the name of ikt, but its been advertised in hot rod, and I think car craft. It's a small billett mech pump, believe it's anodized red, and can support up to 1800hp without using any returns. Looks like a really trick pump..Originally came out for sbc, then bbc, might have one for a ford by know.

You need an avatar.
Maybe this one will do. lol

as far as that pump goes, Quick Fuel had those at the last 2 PRI shows. Neat pumps that put out lots of pressure. Need to use a retrun with them for sure. As far as I know they are only for chevy at this time.

I Had Already Spotted Those In Jegs, But, It Only Shows Them For Chevy. So, Bobby, What About Plumbing It Back Into The Suction Of The Pump????

Plumbing it to the inlet of the water seperator / fuel filter works pretty good.
If you go with a six valve mech pump like the clay smith you might need swap out the base for one with ports in it. It will make it easier to get around your motor plates.

Have you considered a Howard Stewart Race Pump?
They're very small, extremely reliable, and can support HUGE power.

i know plenty of people run their returns into the fuel filter(s), and thats o.k., but its always best to run back to the tank for aeriation purposes.

Marty, I have 2 250 Pro-Comps , one on ea. Tank , seperate switches, with a ball valve off ea. tank so I can isolate them. I just tee'd the bypass line right back into the suction side of the pumps...I tried the "common tee" thing on the return at first .....but one tank would always run over  so I just isolated them
the pumps are not supposed to leak thru ...but evidently they were and putting in check valves restricted the flow too much

Will the Clay Smith mechanical pump have any problem pulling fuel through a water separator/filter before the pump?

My fuel pump has an internal bypass. It is a Mallory 140 gph marine into a 4 port regulator. No return. Dead head style. I run a blown 572 chev with 2 1150 dominators. The side tanks are draining from the bottom thru a 1/2 inch bung into a -8 90 deg thru hose to a Y into the pump.I put a ball valve in line with one tank. This is important when parking on uneven ground. Found out the hard way. I am sure there are better setups but this has been the best for me so far. It is hard to get the hose equal length because of pump location, usually mounted on a stringer, but try.
