I have a 1970 17' glastron jet boat . The problem is I have a leak somewhere in the engine compartment . I realize there should be a small amount of water coming from the packing seal . but it seems exsessive. The only info I have on the pump says it's a berkley 12J-A . I would appreciate any help on this.

It's hard to say where it could be leaking but try this....with the drain plug in the hull and boat on trailer...fill the bilge with several inches of water at least just above the Pumps intake flange.
Now look under the boat and see if you can spot where the water is exiting from.

That is how I found my leak, it was the dog bone shaped piece the the loader grate bolts thread into. If yours is leaking you will see water running out of the pump when you flood the bilge.

Thanks for the input BLOWN 472 I just looked in rex marine . The intake to pump gasket is about 7 bucks I hope it isn't a major pain to replace. This boat has a custom built hatch so I might have to stand on my head.
