Rod torque specs?

Does anyone know the torque spec for Howards aluminum rods in a BBC??

Depends on the bolt. Try to get an ID number or brand off the bolt. Then call Howards. Bolt could be ARP or other. Torque varies by bolt, not rod manufacturer. Stretch measurement is more accurate.

A litle suggestion here, if those are used rods and you don't know the history of them, get a new set of bolts, very cheap insurance! and use the stretch method also!.. wink

You can't skip any steps. You must sacrifice to the "Aluminum God." You have to run the first set till you break one. From then on you replace them one run before. Unless you freewind the motor. Or get it too hot. Or if you hydraulic the motor. This is all scientific and has been tested. Bill Miller told me so. :rolleyes:

Yep, that's why I use steel rods, don't like that "Aluminum God" !.. eek! :D :D
