"Fido" is a nick name a good friend gave me (11 years ago), as a joke. When I was pregnant with my son (7 years ago) we got the internet and for my very first screen name I tacked "mom" onto "Fido" and became "Fidomom". Some of my friends shortened Fidomom to "FM" in an on-line chat one night (cuz they didn't feel like typing out the full thing) and it stuck.
