He went to the show and is now looking into the Advantage 22. I know they make an outstanding boat but the price is what is bugging me. $52K for a 22 with a 350 mag and a bravo 1. Seems a little step. Am I wrong here?
Is Advantage one of the manufactures that include the swim step as part of total footage?
What other manufactures would you guys suggest that are in that range?

Tell him to get the Lavey 21'. I think its the best bang for the buck in its size range and comes with more power for the same price. It is actually 22'6" to 23' including the step. Does Advantage include the step?

Advantage does not include the step in the total length, 22' 4" plus the step, another 14 or 16 inches at least.

He got horsed.
Hope he has some Depends to absorb the bleeding.

I would suggest he look for a boat that is nearly new with more power if he has a limited budget.

Yeah, I agree it does seem a little high. $52k would probably get him into an Ultra 247XS with a 6.2 and a Bravo 1 , or he could get a 23XS. It's basicaly the same hull but a non step bottom & no built in swim step. He could probably get into that with a 6.2 Bravo 1 set up for less than $52k. I have a friend who bought a Ultra 23XS with a 350 Mag set up last summer for about $47K. Tell him to give Ultra a call (619)443-1100.

Jim, thats a good value, but with a small block it will be too slow and will end up being for sale in a year or two. Get a foot shorter boat but move up to Big Block power!!

I agree. I'd never own a boat with a small block again but if this guy is not into speed; it might be an ideal set up for him. My buddies 23XS with the 350 Mag still runs right around 60 mph. That's not too bad for a 23 foot small block powered boat. I'm sure the same boat with a 6.2 in it would squeeze out a few more mph.

True enough. I just noticed a lot of those types of boats for sale when I was looking recently.....
Lots of 22-24 footers with a 6.2......they all said they moved up....you and I know that means more power..
If speed is not big deal then he'd be fine.

At that price I would go and buy a 25 Tremor from Shockwave and be very happy, Ok maybe a few more dollars, NOT MUCH.
They may be including that swimstep in there, some manufactors due that.

Did he look at the bigger 25's like the Shockwave 25 Tremor or the Nordic 25 Rage or was the price way outta the picture? I think $52k brings the 23'-24' Ultra's?? If he boats at the river, it might be worth it to open the wallet a little wider and go bigger.

He is stuck with smaller boats because he has to keep it in his garage. Already told him to look into a swing away hitch and I think I have him talked into a used boat for a better value. Thanks

anyone know how much for an Ultra? With a 496 it should be in that price range? Those boats are really nice and worth the $ IMO.
BTW, mine is for sale and is 22 ft! ;) :D

Well,
The price for the 22' was $50K with the 6.2 (330hp)& $52.5K with the 496 MAG (375hp). This is a BIG 22' boat......
Almost 24' with the swim step, and will run about 60 with the 6.2 and in the mid 60's with the 496.
Also, it was loaded for this price.....
The 25' Citation with 496 MAG is $68K.......Loaded......
Just to clarify.......

Actually $65-70K for a full sized 25 footer is right in the range for that sized boat.
Real 25 to me is 98-102" beam. And a 25 foot running length. Not the ones trying to pass along a 23 footer as a 25.

Have you checked out boat prices lately ???
$68K for a "BIG" 25' open bow boat is not out of line.
The average 27 to 28' boat is about $75 to 80K.
Like some have said....The 25' & 27' Victory are not the fastest boats on the lake (although my 27' does over 80) but are great family boats.
Not many 27' boats can comfortably fit (6) adults in the mid cuddy. I am over 6' tall and even my head doesn't touch the roof.
I am very happy with mine.....my 2 cents worth......
