This can't be good!!!!
http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/522/1415Bravo_III.jpg
I was out on the river over the weekend. Floating along no problems and not a hint of trouble.
Time to go so I fire the boat and put it in gear and NOTHING!!!
No forward or reverse, Just NOTHING!!!
I checked the control center and it appears ok. I checked under the hatch on top of the motor on the port side where the cables go and could see the were looking ok. The shift cable from the controls moves an arm that moves another cable that appears to go down to the drive and they are both moving.
Still NOTHING!!!!!
What to look for, what to adjust & how to fix it????
Any ideas???? Please post or p.m. me.
Thanks, Greg

Yes, it's full.
No bang, grind, clunk, it made no noise either.
I don't get it, I think I'll be buyin a service manuel soon.

The reason I ask is the upper looks like it's gotten a little warm...but it could just be hard water.
I'd be looking at linkage...cone/clutch drives usually give some kind of warning, but stranger things have happened.

I'm now thinkin linkage at the drive too, I'll pull it and see.
This is crazy, 94 views and no other ideas and no one else has ever had this problem??? I'm a little surprised here.
Anyone know of a decent drive shop to call???

the shift cable may have come out of linkage in the drive. if you pull the drive yourself pay close attention to the linkage to see if the cable came out. I happen to be a certified mercruiser drive specialist so if you haveany more questions you can e-mail me at www.chadzilla4ever@msn.com

Thank you for the input.
Found the dealio...
Toasted the drive hub mounted on the flywheel.
No splines left and smoother then smooth inside.
Sucks to be me:mad:
Diddn't even know there were zirk fittings down there:eek:
I know now and what a pricey lesson to learn.
New part has arrived and no just to put it all back together.
Thanks again, Greg

drain the fluid, and remove the rear cover on the upper end. there are linkages behind there with only a cast aluminum piece.... see them break often. check it out. ussually the cable wont come out of the linkage with the drive installed. so id look behind the cover.

This was caused by engine miss alignment. I have seen the engine hold down bolts come loose and cause this problem.
