Tricks for strut removal

Does anyone have any tricks on getting the strut off my boat other than a big "f"ing mer and a block of wood. Is there any chemical that will help loosen the silicone bond?

Sometimes stuff a little tougher than silicone is used to seal the strut, especially the drop through type. Some heat can be very beneficial to soften things up and aid in removal in these cases.

Get an "E" string, the smallest one, for a guitar. Cut it to around 2' long and tie each end around a piece of 1" dowel. Put the string into the silicone and saw it back and forth.
This worked good for me.

Yeah, it's not as much fun as bashing the **** outta something but it does work. :D :D
