I've been told that to insure a cat is expensive, but what about deckboats that are cat hulls such as the Magic's, Conquest's, etc. Do they cost as much as the high performance cat's, are do the insurers put them in a different rate schedule?
Thanks

I just bought a 2004 Magic Deck boat with a HP525 and my insurance is $740.00 a year.
It is considered a Modified V, I believe, not a true Cat, so the insurance is not bad at all.

Same here, I guess you are put in the family boat category. Through Progressive I pay $780 for $500,000 liability, total replacement cost, water and road towing. Go to their website and do a quote. Mike

That's cool, I thought maybe it'd be considered a Pontoon boat...LOL. Naw, really I wondered the same thing, I am glad to hear they aren't as tight on them as on a "true" cat.

$740 for a 2004 Magic sounds like a steal. I wouldn't tell anyone....

for some damn reason they don' t consider deck boats as cats. So no stigma attached..... yet.
Get in while the getting is good.
