i just picked up..

a rebuilt 460,that's been sitting in a friends garage for about 12 years
the outside of the block looks like shit, but when I pulled the valve covers off, looks like brand new.he's not sure what year it is,what numbers do I need to look at to determine the year? the type of heads etc...

you need to check the spots for attaching the chain to that anchor

on the side of the block there will be a number right behind the starter ( or around there) and the will look like this d1ve or d0ve ,c9ve c8ve the new blocks arent as thick but will work as well! on the heads the number is right above the plugs and between two head bolts. it will be about the same type of #'s
