Ken, looks sweet! I bet you never dreamed when you started working with the Omega that it would lead you to this. Do you plan to leave it all white or will you be adding some color?

Thanks OS, I'm really happy and I could tell from the looks on their faces that Ervin and Duane were too.
I've dreamed of owning a tunnel almost all of my adult life. It's finally here, but It's sure taken me a long time! lol I really have to thank Duane and Ervin for all the help along the way.
Ruggs is going to put 4 colors of candy pearl blue on top of the white for me, after the rigging is done.
Everyone is really anxious to see what it weighs, from the feel of it, it felt like 375-400, but that's without any bulkheads or anything
.

Ken,
Congrats! It's already looking great! I can't wait to see all the progress pictures up until the final product.
I was thinking the same thing that Brad posted about being a new father as I was looking at the pictures.

Sweet
Would this be the same central cal. larry swablenland Cheyenne ?
without any mods. like the same molds he used in the 70's ?
& I know Painted race boats common but, could you spray boat in mold ? think it would be more durable.
LOVE the floor.

Boy...so many questions! lol-just like a new dad, I love answering them!
Jake, the blues are going to be pretty much like the paint on Brian's Eliminator.
I'm sure we will know on the weight this week...Erv is as anxious to know as anybody!
1Bahner-Larry Swablenland I'm not familiar with. Maybe Duane could help out here. I know it is the second version of the Cheyenne. On the paint, yes it would have probably been better to do it in Gel, but time was running short and so was money. My Buddy Ruggs has just opened a paint/gel shop for boats, and wanted to do an "advertisment" paint job for me, so people can see his work. I built him a paintbooth in trade, So that's the deal on that.
Thanks for all the compliments on the new kid!

Ken, Wow!! Ervin called sunday to fill me in on the statis of your boat. It looks good, makes me alittle anxious about my new one. I can't wait to see your boat when its finished. Jay

Jay,
It looks great! I may have posted this before, but Duanes eyes got about the size of dinner plates and he said in 30 years he had NEVER seen a boat come out of a mold that was that straight....
Then proceded to say that it could go to the races next weekend without having the bottom touched! The time Erv spent on the molds was time well spent.
That new vinal-ester resin he's using is some pretty amazing chit too! We took a piece of glass about 6"x12" and bent it until the ends touched....not a crack was heard, and it sprang right back to flat.
The boat is light too. Duane and Erv both estimated that it was right around the 400 lb mark...just by feel.
Of course there were no bulkheads in yet, and the two halves were just sitting on top of each other. I can't wait to see what the first "race" layup will weigh in at!

Ken, I don't think I would want one less than 400lb. unless I was in a class like pro gas jet, where every pound counted. If that was the case I would have to knock off about 60 lbs. myself. A well built boat that weighs in at 400 and is lakeable is awesome. Two seats and 125 to 130 mph in high sevens would make every one scratch there head. It is possible, I went 128 in mine with two seats. the clocks wern't happy either, All the PGJ guys where runing their numbers that day. I was even suprised. I was at a race in Kansas and had only been using the juice on the first 1/2 of the track, and had never big ended the boat. When I left the rope and hit the button I heard a fuel pop so I got out of the bottle and at 1/2 track I thought what the heck I'll try it again and there was no fuel pop so I stayed in it and by the time I got to the finish I couldn't wait to get out of it because I knew I was on a pass. It also took much longer to shut down. I was still as surprised as everyone else at the mph but the et. was only 8.50 due to no bottle at first. I'm confident it was a 7.90 + run. I'll e-mail you the pic. Not smart enough to get it on this page. Jay

Nice boats guys...They look great. How many people are on the list and what are these things going for blank?

Ken F
04-20-2004, 05:15 PM
Bense,
They are going for $8200 +250 per color.
which comes with intake set, dropped keel, and a bubble in front of the intake...basicly a full blown race bottom. These mods are 1400 if you have them done to your boat after the fact.
If you wanted to get an order in now, I don't think it would be too long of a wait.
I know that there at least three in front of you now.
However, as soon as the first one is out there to be seen (mine) It's going to fill up quick. There are quite a few people waiting to see mine.
I'll be talking to Erv this evening, and I'll find out how long the list is now if you want.

What happned to the 7000 price? What does a new Stealth cost agine?
Ken does he supply the intake or is that on you?
Lookin good cant wait for the scales.

Jake,
I'm probably speaking out of line by quoting prices period. They are not my boats to sell, I'm just buying one.
I would imagine that adding the dropped keel, setting the intake, and adding the bubble accounts for the increase over the 7000 ?
I've gone through so many senarios (i.e.-what will it cost this way...what will it cost that way...I'm not even sure at this point! ) I'm getting confused.
Perhaps Duane could chime in here, as he is the dealer for the boats, not me.

The hull, which includes all wood work inside and the rub rail goes for $7500.00. They will be a good 90+ mph boat without any bottom work done. Ervin charges $275.00 if you want him to set the intake. He'll set yours or I can frunish one for you. The colors add $250.00 each. The bottom for a race boat can range from $800.00 to $1500.00, just depending upon what you want. From there on it's all custom. We can rig them to any stage that you may desire. Thanks for the interest guys.

Thanks guys for the answers. I am looking for a new hull right now and trying to get as many ideas as possible. It would be a little tough being in southern California but it could be done.
Are they using Gell for the colors or painting over the gell?

Duane HTP

Most of them will be built with Gel in the mold.

Can't be any worse than me buying a boat from a So Cal company. It's 1008 miles from here to LA.

Yep, I even towed my brand new jet thru snow, road salt and sand (rocky mountain pass) from LA to Dayton, Ohio...fenders still show scars...and never regretted.
Never regretted the towing hassle that is. Although I did regret living in Ohio.

Duane will most likely offer arrange for delivery if you need it. Shouldn't be more than a few hundred bucks.

Ervin began tabbing together the top and bottom of the boat Friday. He was really impressed with how well they fit, and explained that usually that is not the case. It's beginning to look like a boat isn't it?
