That's odd, it's usually the other way around.

It wasn't too cold, but real windy in Thompson Bay. I went down toward Cattail and it was nicer. I got off of the water by 2, it was just a shakedown run for next weekend anyway.

I know, we wanted to do a poker run, but our boat is only26 feet.
Those boats are HUGE!
Big and Beautifull
Maybe they let the big ones go first?

I know we COULD take the boat to Catalina, but then there is the whole salt water issue.......we can snap down the open bow with our bow cover.
I would like to do a poker run, if they allow our size boats....

I was coming back from Sandbar around 2:30 on Saturday, and the water was very rough, wind was blowind, pretty bad conditions. Friday was perfect out there.

The 36' Spectre may be our own "Three Gays Only"...

Yeah...you'd never know it by looking at the guy.
After he bought "Maximus"...I assumed he was into the gladiator movies.

There is no minimum size limit I know of. Try a poker run you will like it. Smaller boats just get bounced around a bit more. Common sense will keep you out of trouble. :)

No, but send lost of photos so I can live through them......
wish we were....I just had knee surgery and won't be bending it for awhile...Our next trip is Nautical Inn May 13,14 & 15. But my son was nominated for 'Order of the Arrow' so we may have to postpone.
Memorial Day at Lake Mead (that should be a zoo) at the Hacienda
Then some camping trips, Lake Mead, Park Moabe, Lake Powell
We are going to Avi in August, but I don't think any poker runs are going on when we are going.......
September in Havasu with our friends and I have one more to plan in October, a hotel trip mid October.....
(I know you didn't really ask)

The Spectre pictured above is a non-canopied version, I don't think it is Three Days...

Then it got SNOTTY at 3:00. It was the ocean, lots of sunk boats at Windsor, at least 15 boats on the rocks at the North Ramp. Never seen it so ugly. At about 6:30 it laid back down.

The non-canopied Spectre if I am not mistaken is "Tunnel Vision" from Lake Tahoe. I think it is for sale as well.

That is the problem with Windsor being a non-protected ramp.
I ran to Catalina on Friday and the Ocean was pretty rough as well.

It was pretty scary about then, I made it back to the channel, and saw two blown flatties heading towards Windsor, I hope they made it.

If you're talking about the Hydros, they made it (God knows how) then sunk. They were behind the dock at the North ramp in the shallows though and I think Accetance floated both of them.:eek!:

A yellow one with two girls, and a black one with two guys??
That sucks. I tgought they would have stayed in the channel instead of going to Windsor.

A friend of ours had their Ultra sink at Windsor on Sat. The wind was bad. The salvage guy said the worst he has seen in 10 years. Swell of up to 8' at windsor. By the way, the Ultra was a 24' open bow. WOW!

The second place winner($2000.00) in the Wild Card, was driving a 23' Dana. The owner was with us ALL day.

Negative, HH, thats the 36' Spectre Tunnel Vision, I think he is out of Tahoe. My Spectre was sitting with a bad MSD box. I think I might have a poltergist or something. All should be well next weekend, and am looking forward to a problem free weekend!!!
Knock on wood!!!!
In case anyones wondering, thats not my fat ass in that pic.

Was it anyone one the boards here? That is a pretty good size boat to sink. The conditions must have been beyond horrible. That sucks.

I know a couple of dudes with 24' Ultras. No good. If only I made your money Bill, I would buy a bigger boat.

I was out in my 26 open bow, no fear of sinking just being blown into other boats around the docks. We made it off the water with no real drama.

I just talked to Kurt, the guy with the Ultra that sank. It was a 23 XS that was waiting at the launch ramp. His girlfriend was in the boat waiting when she almost got blown into the rocks, so she put it in reverse real hard right as a huge wave came over the back. The 23 is not a low profile boat, so it must have been pretty bad out there.
She was getting close to the rocks, and hit reverse like Ultra28 said. The boat is not a low freeboard boat. Unofrtunately the swells were so big that they overtook the boat almost instantly. She was unsure of what to do, as well as being a bit rattled and cold, and decided to bail out. She had a hard time getting to shore with another person helping her swim. It was pretty bad out there. Both Kurt and his fiance are OK and have a pretty good attitude about the whole situation. She definately knows more about driving a boat in bad conditions now!

we went to the channel about 12:00 saturday and it was starting to blow. By 4:30 the wind had changed coming from the west and all hell broke loose. We left the boat in the channel and got a ride to windsor to get the truck. We went by the ramp and it was unbeleivable. We saw at least 10 boats on the rocks at the south launch and more were piling up. We went to get the boat out of the channel after dinner about 9:00 and it was calm. When we got to windsor we saw the divers bringing in a boat and they said there were 14 boats sunk that they knew of.
