Mercruiser 454 330 H.P. Peanut Port Heads WTF?

A friend pulled the heads from his Mercruiser 454 yesturday due to a burnt valve. I was shocked to see these tiny little Peanut port heads.
After putting a set of gaskets for normal oval ports up to these, these things must be like a governor. Im pretty sure he is going to change to a large oval port. It has to make a huge difference I would think.:confused:

GM's attempt to make a high velocity port for the BBC. Fueling, (spelling) did and that head made big power as a bolt on. The world products 269cc oval is a good choice for an upgrade.
