Looking to buy a new chevy. Anyone know of a dealership or a contact where I can get a good price. Live in the sacramento area, but will travel for a good deal. Is wanting a price under invoice asking to much?

Word was there is a dealer in Idaho who sells under invoice. Maybe someone knows the name.
There's money to be made for the dealer even below invoice..just depends on whether he's willing due to demand. At invoice or $500 above is common. Usually in Fleet sales.

Simple really. Don't go to a dealership at all until you've finalized the price. Instead, let your fingers do the walking in the yellow pages and shop online too.
Call dealers all around and ask for the fleet sales manager - whoever they put on the phone will be able to give you prices over the phone. Tell 'em you're buying a truck for your company (doesn't matter if you're not or if you don't have your own company - it's all over the phone - give 'em a company name if they ask). Tellem exactly which model and options you want - all the details. Ask for their (best) price.
Call another dealer. Call another dealer. When you call another one tellem the price you're looking to beat (take the lowest price you got and lower it by $500). If they beat that price you know there's probably more room to go lower. Call another dealer and tellem the price to beat. It won't take more than a handful of phone calls to find the absolute lowest price. Call one more and test the bottom - tellem the lowest price less $250 or whatever you think is left. If they tell you no then you can be pretty sure what the bottom is.
When you have the lowest price - the price you're willing to pay, call the dealer closest to you or the dealer you WANT to buy from - usually the closest one is best since you'll probably go there to get it serviced. Tell them the price you want them to beat. If their price is good enough for you drive over there and buy/finance it.
It works everytime and saves you TONS of time getting grilled in the dealership.
Good luck!
