Every once in a great while ...
I hear a song that sticks with me and I develop an inexplicable increasingly emotional response to it the more often I hear it. It's happened again and I have no idea who sings it or what the title of the song is. It typically takes me many listens and often reading the actual lyrics before I can even figure out what a song is about and sometimes that doesn't even help. I was reacting to this song from first listen and didn't know why. I've tried to plug in snippets of the lyrics I could discern from it into Google and I don't get any results back that even remotely resemble this song. I can't find the lyrics or possible artist on the net anywhere.
So I've tried to transcribe them here in hopes that someone will say, "Hey I know that song! It's called such and such by so and so." (Don't be cute and actually quote that, lol!) :p ;) :D Some of the lyrics I've posted may be wrong. I had some trouble understanding the singer as he has a heavy English sounding accent and it's a sorta fast paced song; kinda bouncy :).
From what I can make out of the song it seems to be a song from a dad to his toddler son about how his perspective has changed since his son was born. This singer has a way of mentioning things about life with a toddler and the bond between parent and child that gets to me more and more with every listen. He describes so succinctly the joy and wonder I feel even still as I'm getting to know the person my son is becoming.
Where do you go?
I don't know
Hello my friend
You come at me with your hands
About to think we're going into the world
Cuz you've already won me over
Though you haven't said a word
You can lay my head upon your chest
You're consumed by your tiny heart beating too
You're big enough to show me now
That you hear it beating for yourself
It chokes me up just getting the gist of that. I recall hearing my son's heartbeat for the first time you know and I recall him as an infant falling asleep in my arms and being so aware of his every breath his lil heart beating and watching him sleep and stuff. / :)
You know that
You're so strange
But I love ya
Yes I love ya
I had moments during the toddler years where he'd be tantrumming and I'd just be looking at him thinking what a strange lil creature you are and on the immediate heels of that notion was the sense of joy and wonder of hey that's my lil creature oh gosh how I love that lil being!
Well those butterflies that I got first time
Are when I kissed my first girl on the lips
Although this feeling's nothing new
This time they're flyin' for you
When the circus came to town
My heart wasn't in it
Cuz you weren't around
It was lost on me
Always lost on me
Around and round and round the room
Small hands are so destructive
Your playground is our brand new carpet
I try to reach the firing range
And your innocence excuses you
Impatient and disruptive
Now crash friend
While the world is waiting
Let's smash it face it
Got nothing to lose
Nothing that's loose
(I remember babyproofing! lol)
Sweetness and the joy you bring
And I love ya
Yes I love ya
La la la la la la
Well where you go
Oh nobody knows
But I know we're living this together
Oh when the circus came to town
My heart wasn't in it
Cuz you weren't around
Bud I love ya
Yes I love ya
Well those butterflies that I got first time
Are when I kissed my first girl on the lips
But I still love ya
Yes I love ya
Because the sweetness and the joy you bring
Bud I love ya
Yes I love ya
This song just really gets to me and I really want to know who sings it and what the name of it is. If you recognise this song and know either the title or artist please please please share 411 with me?! If anyone would like to hear it for themselves ... I can either e-mail it or Instant Message file transfer (MSN, AIM, or Yahoo). I downloaded it erroneously because it's a misnamed file (AVG has determined it is a virus free file). Thank-you. :)

Yes. Just about every lyric I posted I've entered into Google as a snippet and still no relevant hits. :(

Is that the song you sent to me the other day that sounded a little bit like the Housemartins?

Yes sir it is. :) Sounds a bit like Chris DeBurgh to me. I can find no references to this song anywhere on the net.
