ha ha
good one.....lol :D I am pretty sure we will be avoiding that place from now on.
So there is no size restriction on boats going thru the channel and under the bridge? (someone told me there was)

I believe there is a sign posted as you enter the channel that says no boats over 38'

I have never seen any restrictions posted anywhere. Hell they bring the tour boats through there.

Any bigger would be a Havasu ship, not a boat

yeah, we were sitting here remembering a sign .....
no worries then, our boat is only 26ft.

I've seen some HUGE boats in there, and the tourist boats are really big. Maybe the big boats, just can't moor at the dock or on the sand?
;)

Yeah there is a sign in the channel I think it is 36' or 38'.

cool,
we will be cruising the channel.........I don't know about beaching on the sand (don't want to hurt our gel-coat)

When the water level was down this winter, the island side of the channel had much less rock then the village side. It was interesting to see the channel with the sides high and dry.

But isn't any sand, bad for your gel coat?
(I have visions of anchoring in water all summer)
It's a new boat, we use to beach our old boat, no problem, but this is our NEW boat....
(LIKE it is even up to me!)
LMAO
:D

My theory is use it, but don't abuse it. The channel is part of the Havasu experience. I would hate to miss out on it. Just be carefull.

We like to drive up and visit the channel, maybe have a few beers, but steaking out your space all day, is not my idea of fun.
I'd rather be driving down the river.............
stop at the sand bar................
drive to the bridge..........
drive to this side of parker...........
drive to the bridge........
drive to the sandbar........................
drive back.........
:D

Pick up a piece of soft carpet and place that down before pulling your boat up on the beach. :)

Yes, it is posted at 34 feet, but they got a bye today for the ruined poker run that allowed the 46 Outerlimits, Cigarette Tigers, Skaters, and a few others to use the channel. It'll go back to 34 feet tomarrow or Monday...

I thought the exemption was for BBSP weekend?

I never understood the carpet dealio. What do you do with the wet sandy carpet when your done? It wouldn't go in my boat. I wouldn't just leave it. Good luck finding a trash can it would fit in.
I've never actually seen it done

way over my head
I thought it was a joke!
Do people actually do that?

A quick rinse in the lake, stuff it into a garbage bag, and hang it out when you get back to the dock.
I take it you don't bring wet skis, lifejackets, tow ropes, etc. into your boat?

Size limit is posted as 36', but it is not enforced. I was told that the restrictions were put in place to keep the houseboats out of the channel.
We have never had a problem at 38', and there are boats out there bigger than us.

I thought I had seen really huge boats in there....
Thanks!

It is 36 and the only time I have seen it enforced is on Holiday weekends. If your already beached they will usually leave you alone. Too many other things to do.:D

Ive seen people use a big beach towel before. Never done it myself, but it make more sence than using old carpet.

I saw "Full House" in the channel late Friday. Where are they from? One of the nicest boats I have ever seen on the lake.

Taking a wild guess, I think Full House is a 46 Outerlimits (out of the east coast, Conneticut I think). It could have been only a 42, but sure looked big, on the beach and on the trailer...

If anyone has a photo of "Full House" please post it. Thanks. I would be interested in the engine power too. It apperaed to have blown staggered twins. The hatch was closed. Sounded sweet.

Yes, there is a size limit of 34'. But I have seen a sign posted no boats larger than 36' on the island side of the channel. Yes, the Lake Havasu P.D. does enforce the limit. As for seeing the larger boats over the weekend during the HeatWave - I get a special channel permit for the event.
Burtandnancy - It was good hanging out with you on spectator point during the start - sorry I was busy and didn't get a chance to talk more.

Tom and DS, these are both grweat ideas that I hadn't thought of...Tom you are a smart man, I can tell that you are from Sask. with thinking like that

I think there's a sign at the entrance that says 36 ft. Its over by the lightpost at the campground side of the channel. North entrance

It is a 47' Outerlimits GTX. I was told by a good source that the owner of Tatum Motorsports bought the boat, but never heard the info first hand. Sweet ride. Most likely staggered sterlings, knowing Outerlimits there big.

I have never had a problem in the channel and we have owned our current boat for more than 2 years. I have been contacted for other reasons, and they have never said anything about the size of our boat.
There are a few other large V's that are in the Channel almost every weekend as well, so I have a hard time believing it is enforced.

Thanks for the Outerlimits info. A phot would be sweet. I liked the deck of cards%$#@#$!
On the large boats, i beleive the same is occurring, selective enforcement. They are special craft and generally do not cause a traffic issue as most side tie at the LB Resort. We all need to remember that tourism is the $$ to the city, and the cops are respectful to this and professional conduct of big boat owner/operators.

The sign says 36 at both of the entrances to the channel and the fine is $250, they will usually give you one warning if they do not recognize the repeat defenders.
Holliday weekends you are takeing your chance, they will usually let you come in the north end of the lake as long as you do not go into the main channel.
Now if you have a commercial licence (skipper) bring on the 50 footer.

very interesting.......this all started because someone told me there was a size limit of (now this sounds silly ) 24ft.
I just wanted to be sure we could cruise the channel....

boatless, the pleasure was mine. Thanks for sharing some inside information. After leaving you I went to the Nautical cove and talked to a few early finishers. They were quite upset with the change of the character of this once outstanding event. It just doesn't seem like something the CG would do, they are so safety oriented. As mentioned elsewhere, there is more to this story.
FYI, the 47 GTX Outer Limits is listed in the current Powerboat (am I allowed to say that) as a 2004 with staggered 900SC's and #6 drives, good for 110 MPH. A wild guess at the price would be +/- 3/4 mil. A recent trials report listed something like this with Sterlings at 800+. Am I close?
