There are lots of scammers on ebay these days.
I was looking at a supposedly brand new Sea Doo supercharged GTX and they were only asking 1/2 price. They required you to pre-register, it was set up so that you could not bid, you had to email the guy.
Then when he'd gotten enough emails, he pulled the listing for "errors". Then he emailed me and wanted me to wire the 4K to his account in the Netherlands.
I wrote him back asking why he'd pulled it from ebay.
w/o satisfactory answer, I told him it'd have to go through Escrow.com or no go. He said he didn't think that'd work out for him and I reported him to ebay. They immediately pulled the listings, and he showed up several times under different user accounts each time.
That is why you never, ever answer the Phish emails asking for your account ID and password. That is how this no good yutz got ahold of peoples accounts so he could sell phony stuff under that persons ID. I just got one of those last week. Always report it as quickly as possible to ebay security if it smells funny, I always do.

O.k. Gary, what are you doing buying a car? Remember you need to pay for a house and a kick ass boat first!
Let's keep focused here:D

These "scammers" crack me up. You'd think that they would at least do the ads and e-mail with "respectable" spelling and grammar to come off more legit.....I understand thatthey are supposed to be "foreigners" but geez, it looks like a 1st grader is doing the e-mails in that thread....:yuk:

Yeah, but it seems that they are fairly sophisticated in their setup. The guy I was bantering with (several times) on the Sea Doos (I recognized the pictures and wanted to get him to say whatever I could about his location, which changed every time of course) said he had banks in the Netherlands, the US, Italy, the UK and France. I recognized these listings as fraud immediately after the first email exchange, and was suspicious before. Just seemed too good to be true... like the old adage.
I passed any correspondence to ebay security for thier use. I actually saw one where a listing for a Sea Doo the fraudulent listing had been modified by the true account holder and said something like "DO NOT BID THIS IS A FRAUDULENT LISTING, SOMEONE ELSE IS USING MY EBAY ID".
I guess if they keep trying long enough, someone will be stupid enough to send them the money.
