ok got a 6-71 dyers blower off of the internet
from a guy in florida all the blowers i have seen bolt down with 4 bolts on each side. this one bolts down with 2 bolts on each side that are angled into the manifold the manifold is for a sbc i need one for a bbc. what kind of blower is this and do the make a manifold for it for a bbc. thanks pat(slotracer) :D

Pat, Sounds like you got a GMC 6V-71, not the same as an GMC inline 6-71 or a aftermarket 6-71. I know of no company that makes a manifold for that blower. One other thing, GMC usually uses cast gears that are marginally ok to use for low boost and it depends on if the tooth cut is 30 deg or 45deg. Another thing about stock GMC blowers, they were made just to move air, not compress it. Hope you didn't pay alot of $$$ for it, Bob

That would be, as 058 says, a V-6 deisel blower. It is useless to you. Also: 058, All roots type blowers (Wieand, B&M, GMC, Etc) do not compress air, they move air, building pressure in the manifold simply due to the stacking up of air in the manifold. These types of blowers are very ineffieciant and build a great deal of heat in the incoming air/fuel charge in the manifold. the only true compressor type superchargers are the Whipplecharger and the belt driven centrifical superchargers, such as the Paxton. Turbochargers are another type of true compressor. A true compressor supercharger actually compresses the air/fuel charge as it travels through the compressor,it builds much less heat and is therefore much more adiabetically efficiant. Tim

Pat,
put it on eBay and check out some of the items lower in this particular forum under 671 Blower (http://forums.***boat.net/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=000742)
If I come across anything I'll post it here.
Sorry about your deal, it happens sometimes, be real careful.

MM, I just pointed that out because stock GMC blowers need stronger bearing supports [end plates] if they are used to make [manifold] boost.

Hey Tim, don't forget Norm Drazy's PSI, that was the first true screw blower used on a race car that I'm aware of that had any real success! They tore up the alcohol ranks and NHRA banned them from use in the nitro classes before Amato ever got down Firebirds track one January a few wink years ago! Man. I really wanted to see that baby run on pop!!

well did some checking on it. its been converted to gas already. so that is good and it has the small block manifold so i can either build a small block with it or try to get the guy to buy it back seeing how he told me it was a 6-71. the only problem is he's in florida and i am out here. do not know if the weight difference between a bbc and sbc would make up for the c.i.
lose. i guess live and learn. pat(slotracer) :D

Slot, put the thing up on eBay and get busy with the big block(didn't you buy that long block?)
Seriously, that sucks that the blower is an oddball. Misrepresentation is the biggest hazard of eBay, for sure.
