Anybody heard of 50HR service

I've got a 496HO, my dealer says I need a service at 50 hours. Another authorized Mercrusier shop says It's not needed. WHATZUP !

Change the oil, filter & drive oil for sheezy.

In your Manual it will give you all the service intervals. It's the first 20hrs then every 50 for engine oil and filters including water seperator and drive every 100 or 1 a year. I did my drive 2x a year cheap insurance.

Oil is cheaper than metal (at least it used to be).

I always have changed the oil that often if you go by the manual I think it says 100 hrs, but IMHO with a big block and all the blow by it is wise to change it at 50 or less......

It's like BF said, 20 hours and then every 50. So after the 20, the next scheduled stop is 70. Most people I know run well ahead of that schedule though.

Hell I serviced mine at 21 hrs, 37 hours, 66 hours and finally at 94 hours. Once a year for those who don't know me well! :)

Sometimes I'll throw in an extra Oil Change now and then just to keep busy! :)
