5.7 350 spinning a 15/21 at 5200 rpm!!
Anyone know how to get a 23 pitch prop on a Volvo Penta 290?? I can't find one anywhere. I've also heard of a Merc adapter but was just told that they only have them for the newer (SX/ DPX/ etc.) drives:(
Can anyone help;)

I know where...
The ole Tugboat used to spin a 23" chopper to 5,200 RPMs...great prop- carries the nose.

Well, I know you explained it to me before but what does it take?
I'm running a 350 that's pretty fresh so I don't see adding power in the near future.

Left hand stresses the uppers in forward. Right hand stresses the lowers in forward. Uppers are stronger.
There is some linkage under the back cover- two minutes to switch.
Stainless prop + sandbar + right hand gears = possible expensive day
Stainless prop + sandbar + left hand gears = start pushing..then go

I would switch it if I had access to a 23R :)
Bummer is that I have a real nice 19L and a 21L :( Oh and a crappy 17L.
Is the linkage is in the lower unit? I might be in there soon looking at the impeller so......

Yeah. Sorry about that. Backwards, opposite. Reverse what I said above;)
Ok, so I'll need a 23L "chopper".......where oh where can I find one. THe closest I've found is a 16/23:confused: I'm under the impression I should stay with a 14 or 15 by 23??

If you wanna go with a RH prop, and decide to put a LH prop on down the road...just pull the stick back to go forward!
...or change the linkage...not hard at all.
I had a 15" 23" chopper that I gave the guy who bought my boat...I'll see if I can get another one.

Hey Havasu Hangin!!
I found a 14/23 !! It's a Michigan Match aluminum. Is that what I should go with? You were talking about a "chopper"? What gives?
