Ran accross this dampner today and found a place where i can get them for around $150. I dont know much about dampners and i would like to get some of your experience/opinions/recommendations on them.

Unless you are going to run your engine above 6500 r's I don't see the point. It doesn't claim to have all the qualities of the Fluiddamper? And this is from someone who had a balancer break a crank in a '97 Lt-1? Don't remember if you were running a jet or outdrive so maybe one of those users can reccomend.
Good luck,
Rick

fluidamper for a BB chevy looks like they start right around 300 and go up from there.
ATI, TCI start about the same area.

I have no idea if these are good or not, my guess is somebody will say they are made in BFE and not to use them.

Those are the ones I was talking about unless knockoffs. That brand can be an upgrade in more ways than one if running high rpm or?? Under 5500 my guess is that a quality stock type would be fine. I was only told to use the fluid damper in street car as it turns 7500 rpm with a solid cam and gear drive, from what I have been told the gear drive are the culprit. Unless one of these go cheap I would go with stock type as long as it doesn't come from Dimmit Chevy..

Shaun, $249 for a ROMAC, SFI approved, Made in Austrailia.
Call any crank company and ask them about Fluid dampner. As far as the Chinese knockoffs. We had a stroker ford on the dyno a few years back, had one of these on it. During heat cycle runs, the dampner broke the snout off the crank. . . that was enough for me.

Pretty soon we will have to read and speak Chineese LOL
I use ATI when building most engines.
Shaun - I just put two of those balancers on two HP500's converted to 540's. Basically stock engines but bigger. Do not have any real time on them yet.

Has anyone watched the prices of steel and scrap steel. The Chinese are buying it all up. Soon they will be the only ones making parts.

Ken they are not buying it all up, just that nasty greasy ass shovel and dragline rope you guys in mining are pawning off. Were keeping the good scrap for ourselves:).

No, snowboat is right. Steel has just about doubled and alum went up over 30% in 2 months. Freggin copper is at an all time high also.
And it's the chinks that are buyin it all up and drivin the price outta sight.
