IT will take knowledge or certain parts of the river and some very cautious driving.

Its a nice drive but if you dont know where the shallow parts are then,well it can get ugly on the outdrive for sure.

Just drop in Needles and go from there and you will be alright.

There is 3 ways to get to know that part of the river if you have a I/O and dont wanna chance messin it up.
Get to know someone who knows it well, and follow them.
Ride with someone that knows it well.
Get on the London Jet and memorize the path.
Launchin in Needels adn goin down is a great option. It is a long drive from Laughlin to the sandbar.

its a great ride.. Make sure you follow someone.. the water level will change through the day.. so be carefull.. its tricky.. I would drop in at needles.. and go from there just to be safe.. a broken drive is not a good way to start the weekend.
have fun :D

You can learn wheree the shallow spots are by being cautious. Watch the water level and changes in the water behavior-thats usually an indication of depth changes. If you can stand while you drive or have someone who can watch the river floor while you are underway you can keep a lookout for shallow areas. Go slow and be conservative and you should be okay. Hope you have an extra prop with you just in case though...

If you don't know the water in that area, I wouldn't go from Laughlin. From the casinos to the Avi is probably the most questionable. Big Bend being the worst. I've done it from the Avi, but it's a LONG ass trip. I have a jet though. I wouldn't want to be caught coming back in the evening North of the Avi in an I/O either, due to the water level dropping. My opinion, launch at least from the Avi, if not, near Needles somewhere. I won't start at the Avi anymore until I get a faster boat, it just takes too long. My ass wants to get to the action faster. :D :D

Avi ------>Laughlin
Is it about the same distance as Avi ----->Havasu?

You will have an enjoyable ride downstream from the Needles bridge. Driving all the way from Laughlin, you will probably be stressed out about running into something. Buzz kill.

Its been a while for me, but I think the Avi to Laughlin is quite a bit shorter...
