carrera, im not sure on the "ours" hehehe but i know its in great shape. i was going to send it over to the blower shop for new strips but it wont work with my size engine. the ONLY bad part is this.... the guy who sold it to me had a screw fall out of the carb and run a lap. it scored the housing and one lobe. after pulling the screw out he made another run and cranked 10lbs out of it. im running a 550ci bbc and would kill this blower if i tried to run it.so im going to sell it for what i paid( i hope) ad get a bds10-71 kit. i've got a selection of pulleys to adjust the boost level as well as both single and dual quad plates for on top. i did purchase a teague linkage kit and it goes in with the blower. sorry for the long post but i really need to get going on my other blower.... :D

well, in your opinion is it to small for a 556in bbc that spins 6k?
if it is then i only want 1300.00 for everything

Clown

NO not at all!! i've built a pair of 572s with merlin
cast iron heads 8.0to1 comp that same blower setup ,
But it had a super chiller intercooler on it .That alone gave it 75hp on the dyno!
Motor ran at6300rpm with 8-9 pounds of boost on 89oct
pump gas made 900hp. like I said before the right cam made the biggest differance. But if you do want to sell that e:mail me? And Ill see what I can do.

Hey Pleasantcat it's not the economy it's the fact that a srew went thru that thing and by the time you send it out for repair i'm looking at what a new one cost's "not to say its not a good deal or anything"
it is a deal but the people i deal with dont want something that needs that kind of repair! Sorry I could not help you out more! :D

No problem PC. I understand your situation. I already own 2 B&M 250 blowers. I had been trying to sell one for BBC with superchiller, dual Holley HP 950's and K&N with billet housing, all polished for $4000. The whole package was dyno tuned on a 502. I decided to keep the package if I can't sell it for $4000 as I am rebuilding a 502 and will use it there.
My other B&M is on my SBC flatty v-drive.
I wanted yours for a another boat project I am working on with a buddy.
Good luck!
Give me a call if ya change your mind.

holy, i've been told by many that this thing is way to small for my 556. how much boost did you get on your 509 with what pulleys. s

HM
09-18-2002, 12:32 PM
It makes 9 lbs of boost on a 502 with Pro 1 heads and 8.5:1 compression. The 502 set up is a serpentine style, so I am not sure of the pulley sizes. It made 700 HP and ran on 91. Utilized a map sensor with boost retard and ran the timing locked out at 38.
For racing applications it is probably small, but it will make what ever boost you want it to. The problem with making small roots style of blowers make high boost on large motors is the heat generation.
I got the B&M package for the 502 from my dad. He changed to the new Whipple 3.3 liter, which is actually smaller than the B&M by about 50 cubic inches. But, the compressor style of blower generates much less heat and Whipple has a more efficient intercooler and he is now running 12 lbs on 91. They also ran the water backwards through the motor (a nice side benefit of the magnaflow water pumps). The motor is now in the 850 HP range while still being a realiable lake racer.

Take your head out of your ass ,Like I told you that 250 b&m blower is perfect for your setup It will make 900hp and ive evan gottin 1000hp out of them. Boost makes heat so you go with a bigger blower to make it more efficient. If you are worried about it change over to a P.S.I screw type blower$$$

im already at over 600hp 9to1 comp shaver engine. my idea from the start was to put 5 to 8 lbs of boost to her so i could run 100mph on a dependable set up.

ooooo kayyy, how does a map sensor work on a carbed engine? i was going to run two 1150's i'm still searching for the second as well as a chiller. but if it ran yours fine......

HM

yup, I have a map sensor that is refferenced under the blower in the intake. I have a Crane Hi6R ignition, and the Crane map sensor and Crane electric boost retard just plug in.
If you don't have an electic ignition, then I am not sure if you can incorporate a boost retard.
The boost retard is nice, because you can run locked out for bottom end power, and adjust the timing retard with reference to how much boost is being made. i.e. 1 degree retard for every 1 lb of boost, or 2 degrees retard for every 1 lb of boost and so on. This is nice if your fuel is not as good as you might like.

Well with all this talk about the B&M 250 I thought I might chime in. I just bought one last night!
My question to you all is what cam have you found to work best. I will be putting it on a 454 .60 over with rectangular gm steel heads. I run poker runs and I like to keep it wide open for extended runs.
Any advice would be appreciated!
Also would like a superchiller if price is right! :D
