If sense or logic was involved, none of us would even own a boat in the first damn place.
Maybe a better question would be why your boat isn't white.......

More than likely a traumatic experience in your childhood left you scarred and guilt ridden so you feel you must punish yourself,
therapy or attending a SUPER CHEVY weekend might help,
:D :D

Because you want your boat to never let you down.:)

I'm the same way Dan. Drive a Chevy truck and rely on a Ford motor for the boat. But you know what that Ford has never let me down once and now with the fresh 501 I am looking forward to many more fun summers. I am not a big fan of Ford trucks but there motors got my vote.

Maybe you feel you need the extra weight and like paying more for it.

My excuse is that the Ford was already in the boat and it was just easier.
Never been a Ford man myself, but I have to love the fact that I am the only Ford powered jet on the river AND the Chevy and Olds guys get real pissed when I beat them. My one buddy almost started a fight one night when a bunch of people were drunk and he told the one guy that if my Ford beat him again, that we were going to rename the river to "Ford River"
Gotta Love It.:D

The 429/460 is indeed a very wide engine. And while it is a heavy looking engine, the fact is that it's not all that much heavier than those 454's; it's just a little deceiving due to their girth which, incidentally, is (in part) a result of their taller deck height.:D Also, parts are becoming less expensive, too.

Because if the work rigs break down you can't pay for the repairs on the ford and if the tow rigs break down you can't tow the ford to the shop or the lake.

Hey lately I've been feeling like the Maytag repairman! If it weren't for people dumping gas in their diesel and rat damaged wiring it would be really slow. PepBoys doing repairs is pretty good for business too:D
