I think you should buy one. Because:
I have one for sale. Latest greatest compressor and assortment of pulleys intercooler etc.
PM if interested.
My honest opinion is they are OK for something like you have. using only a little boost.
If you really try and make some big boost with a blow through, they are tune up nightmares.

Here is a pic of the setup. 3K with extra pulleys.
Imagine a quad rotor Marine Assault 540 in it's place.

No way to tell for sure.
Enough to wake it up. Later on when you upgrade the insides, quite a bit.

that motor will handel 5lbs intercooled with no issue. good pump gas and no more than 30deg timing. procharger makes a nice kit easy to instal, not bad looking, fits nice under the hatch. the m3 info has might be a little much for what you want to do, but i am sure you could change pullies to keep boost low. if you want to save $500.00 i will sell you my comp m1 kit 12rib all pollished. i will buy the m3 from info for my 540 that i will be running 9lbs of boost and could use the bigger M3. don't get me wrong i am not trying to tell you not to buy the kit info has, but this way we both get what we need. let me know if you are interested and i will get in touch with info. my m1 kit includes 3lb, 5lb, and 7lb pullies.

P.s. once again. thanks for the info! :) The 540 is going in a 23' sterndrive tunnel. Wyatt's performance boats made in Oklahoma. Looking for 120 MPH. Pic is the engine coming out. The whole engine is for sale. Needs a new block or a good repair to previous head gasket burn between cylinders. Everything else good. Will probably part it out on e-bay. Procharger is already listed. Better hurry.
