Anyone think that there was a lot more Lake Lice out this last weekend? Seemed to me the Topok Gorge was full of them!!!
Perhaps the rise in fuel prices has caused many to turn to the PWC as a lower cost way to go boating. All I know they, don't watch where they're going and they think they are the only boats in the water!!! But we all knew that..... ;)

The problem with that hypothesis is that you end up driving them all the time because there is no place to kick it on a sea doo... IMO and speaking as an owner of both boat and ski...

As summer gets closer the lake lice will multiply, all boaters be on guard for- crossing in front of you with out looking, zig zagging all around you not knowing wich way they will turn next, heading staight at you and seeing you at the last minute oe maybe not, young children driving pwc's, and going through the no wake area with a wake:mad:I'm sure you all could think of alot more stupidness that you will encounter this summer with pwc's :eek!:

I have a boat and a ski, and personally, I see just as many dipshits driving boats as Ski's. Morons are an equal opportunity offender.

I was going south by the I 40 bridge and was as far to the right as I dare get, and had one coming straight for me. No one told him he should be on the right. So I veered to my right and he went to his left (read my right) so I went right harder as did he , so finally I pointed my boat right at the right shore, he got it finally. I was about ready to chase him down and school him (politely) about the rules of navigation.

Not looking forward to play "lake lice chicken", "boat rental chicken", stupid boat driver chicken" and the famous "I'm following so close to the back of your boat if you slow down or stop, me and my jetski are coming on board" (Note: there is another verision of this game where you are tubing someone you love ((your children)) and they lake lice see how close they can get, reading your frantic waves as a greeting and wave back!)

or worse yet, as you get ready to pull one of your beloved children up on skis and lake lice cut between the boat and the child, has happened 2 times with lake lice and once with another boater... :yuk:

not sure if you saw/heard it when we were leaving that day at Elsinore, but there was a lake lice going full throttle in the no-wake zone, he chased after the guy, the guy saw him but thought he could out run the boat...  (where the hell did he think he was going to run to??) and after about 5 minutes he gave up and stopped...

I hope he got one HELL of a ticket!!!

Same here, I agree. My PWC does suck and does blow..................past alot of expensive boats though. Actually the best operators of PWC's are the ones that own and drive boats! We know what not to do from our boat experiences.

That's another thing, they think they are the fastest things on the water, and yet I have NEVER BEEN PASSED by one that I didn't let pass me. I don't think there are any that run over 70. There might be a few, but I've never seen one. When it gets a little rough though, they have to back out, so maybe that plays into it.

True.....I have never passed a fast boat on my PWC, just some expensive ones.:)

Ducatista
05-25-2004, 10:49 AM
Oblivious.....it's easy to do on those things. For some reason the lake and water around you seems so big when you're on one. Add inexperience, stupidity, booze, sun, or all the above and you got an accident waiting to happen. If operated correctly, they are a blast, to say the least. Havasu mid week on the PWC is a good way to go. I have found many a nice hideaway cove on mine, that I would have never discovered in the boat. Won't see me on the GTX this weekend though!
