Right to the STRINGER in mine... right in front of the passenger's side of the seat (within EASY reach IF necessary)...

Think about this. If you are going to have a fire, it will be on or near the motor/fuel. If you have your extinguisher too close to the fire source you will have some trouble trying to get it out of the mount while you cook. Try mounting it as far from the motor yet as easily accessible to you when you might need it. Say a stringer in front of the seats or under the deck by the toe board(but not hidden or hard to get at).

On the hondo we have the same mount as Gofast and it is mounted to the head board.
Hey fired up how effective do you think most fire extinguishers will be. If you think about it, if the fire is bad enough to make it difficult to get to your extinguisher then the one or two short blast you get out a typical extinguisher probably won't work. What do you think is the best method of attack? On a side note were you at the Wildland and Fire Expo? I was there working the fire safety housee.

I know with my flatty as well as all the others, if a fire starts you are aware of it VERY quick, especially if you pay as much attention to the motor as I do.
When we had an electrical short last trip out (wire that go through the seat rubbed and shorted) the boat shut off so immediately I was like WTF, then I saw one flame! ripped the extinguisher right off the ghetto fabbed bracket I had and sprayed it two x and it was out. BTW: that crap is a pain to get off metal.

Ours is right under the drivers seat. Very easy access, just reach down, and grab it

Thanks for the "assist" (in posting my picture versus the "link" I posted)

Ian,
ABC extinguishers will handle most fires. Now that is a big generality, but as you know if you take the heat out of the fire or remove the oxygen from it it will go out. The danger is reignition. I remember an intoxicated bone head who was working on his boat at the river. Had his plug wires off and had poured/spilled gas on the carb onto the engine. Why he poured it in I don't recall. He turned the motor over, plug wires sparked.....VAVOOM. Boat on fire! He was too stunned standing there to do anything, so I ran and got my little extinguisher out of my boat. Ran over and gave it a couple of quick shots and it was out. Boat saved, just scorched plug wires and a scorched engine as I remember. Then he got mad at me because the powder from the extinguisher was all over his boat...........go figure. As far as a method ....Go Direct! No I was not at the EXPO. Just starting light duty tomorrow following knee surgery.
