ok here is the deal. i bought a motor that had some water intrusion, dropped it off at my machine shop and had them tear it down and see what was good and what was not. i had the entire thing rebuilt. i am putting the accessories back on so i can put this now motor in my boat. the issue is i was not there for any of the ripping it down and i cant for the life of me figure out how the to run the wires or where the main push button breaker/ main harness gets mounted. i have the gen IV 502 right next to it but it is not the same. the gen VI motor has the fuel pump mounted to the sea water pump and the water seperater bolts to the same place the sea water pump bracket goes. i cant figure out where to mount the little electrical circet breaker on the bracket. it only has short wires to the starte so it cant mount to high or to far from the starter. i never saw where it came from and i spent 2 hrs trying to figure out where and how to mount it. please help. oh yeah and where does my coil mount. on the 502 it mounts to the intake but this motor started out as a 500hp and it has the dart intake and no place to mount it. the msd box is bolted to the back end of the head

That thing bolts to the bell housing in the back. Part of another assembly that mounts back there.
The large red with orange etc goes to the starter.
The large orange and others go to the alternator.
The black is ground.
The others are senders. Two might be coil. I just posted all the color codes in the first stickey thread in this forum.

info , on the gen IV it mounts on the side front but on this it mounts in the back? i dont think all the wires would reach. i layed the wires out like on the other motor and the longest ones would go to the oil preasure sender and oil preasure alarm sender. if it was mounted in back it they would be way to long. also mounted on the front side the alt. wires are the perfect length as well as the 2 temp sender wires fall right into place with the alt wires run across the front of the motor like on the gen IV. any pics of a harnes mounted in the back? i just dont see how even the alt wires would make it to the right place. i know a lot less then you so any help would be great. oh yeah the main wire harness that hooks the motor to the boat would never reach with it mounted to the bellhousing either
here is the top of the bell housing where does it mount

Let me dig up some pics. I just did two of them. All of that was mounted on those two empty holes in your picture at the very top of the bell housing. It was with the oil cooler also on the ones I just did.
Regardless the wire description should get it close.
Let me look for pics.

I guess it ws the cooler that mounted to the bell housing and the wire bracket mess to the right cyl head.
These were my Okie blueprints to put them back together with.

ok info i think if i tap the 2 outer holes at the top of my bell housing it will fit perfect there and still reach all the right places, your a pimp. any problem mounting it right to the bell housing or should i use some alum. spacers. the picture where it shows it mounted to the right cyl. head looks like a much bigger box then mine plus i was going to mount the msd box thatthat cyl head. the way the bracket is i can mount it to my right cyl head in the vert. position or the left in the horaz. position. on the left side the wires would have to run under the tail pipe and i worrie that would get to hot.. any idea whats best

Mount it right to the bell housing if you want.
I always mount the MSD box to the transom. Away from accidental splash. Even the marine boxes.
Away from heat and vibration willl extend the life of an MSD

info, taped those 2 outer holes and bolted it there. not rally sure if it is supposed to be there but everything fits so screw it. now on to the next issue. what am i missing from this picture for the remote oil filter setup. and where would the remote filter mount usualy go, and what parts are missing fron the part that goes where the filter would normaly mount to the motor. (blue part in picture) oh yeah and if you were an msd coil looking for a home on this motor where would you want to live

The blue thing goes on the oil filter pad of the block. it screws on the normal filter threaded thing with a big brass nut and "O" ring with an straight AN flared fitting for a hose. the offset hole also needs a special 90 degree AN fitting also. The oil filter housing bolts to the left head and the filter sticks straight out toward the rear.
The coil will be happy wherever your inventive mind chooses. It is not hard to please.

ok info, thanks for the great info, lol. so what you are saying is that it mounts like this (see pic) to the back of the left head? where would it bolt down? i must be missing that brass nutt to put the blue thing on for the remote oil filter, any pics of what it looks like. i searched all over but no luck finding it in my parts. i will find a happy home for the coil.

This would be a lot easier if your stuff was exacly like what I have seen before.
Your filter adapter if mounted on the head would be in the filter straight up position probably. Poke a hole in the filter so it will drain before spinning it off to change.
Here is the best I can do for a pic of the block mounted part.

ok info, this is what i built today. should work well. the oil filter mount can be mounted as shown vert. or on the top holes horaz. once i pollish it up should look fine.
