Can somebody give me info on the ss races in Laughlin next week? We are trying to enter the boat into this but need some guidance. I know it is last minute but we just got the boat back and put together!
1. Can you register at the race itself or does this need to be done before hand?
2. Is a physical required?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

They are APBA sanctioned races run by SCSC. There will be inboard classes of Super Stock, Pro Stock, Grand National and Cracker Box and a couple of clamp-on classes. There will be a show and shine as well. It's a fun event and will be televised on the Outdoor Channel. Had a killer Bikini contest last year.
The only bad thing about Laughlin is that it's freak'in hot! The races are at Davis Camp across the bridge just north of the casinos....

I think there is a show-n-shine Friday afternoon/evening in front of the River Palms Hotel. This is were the driver's party is Friday night. It was a fun event last year and suppose to be bigger and better this year...

This is an APBA race so you'll need either a DOT or FAA physical. You can get a DOT at the local Concentra centers, lots of them around town. Have that in hand and you can register for the SSRA and APBA onsite. You can do a weekend APBA membership if you don't want to sign up for the whole season. I don't know how many Series races are APBA-sanctioned right now.
Check the SSRA website for contact info and let them know that you are going to show up as a new owner beforehand to give them a heads-up.
Good luck and have fun. Laughlin can be a little tricky in the corners. :p

O.K. to one and all:
The 2004 Laughlin River Days are being held at Davis Camp (North of the Laughlin Bridge)
Circle Boat competition will consist of the following classes:
Super Stock, Cracker Box, SST-45, Grand National and PWC's
NON-RACING "SHOW & SHINE" will be featured in the vendor area adjacent to the pits this is for the restored boats that would like to take advantage of the free one night stay courtesy of Source One and the resorts & casino's in Laughlin. If you are interested in participating in the EVENT, not to race, and would like to obtain the free night stay please call me or email me immediately as we have just a few rooms left. There will be a "best in show" trophy awarded to these NON-RACING show boats on display throughout the weekend.
There is a driver's/v.i.p. party on Friday evening at the River Palms hotel with Food, prizes, giveaway's, and bikini contest. I think, though can't confirm, there might be another bikini contest during the weekend's events at the race site.
Last, this event is not an SCSC event rather a RPM RACING ENT. event that is contracted through SOURCE ONE EVENTS (Las Vegas) and their partner (Hydros inc. formerly Hydro-Prop).
The race will be filmed and edited into a 1/2 show to air on FOX SPORTS NET. Air date to be announced.
Any other questions please email me at rossdbos26@yahoo.com
Best regards to all and I hope to see you at the races!
BTW, if you are planning on racing, yes you can register the morning of the event, there will be driver registration on Friday as well. Next, all inboard drivers must have a current physical (per APBA rules) as mentioned in previous posts in this thread!

HELLO,
I hope you do well. I will stop by and say hi. I am a friend of Scott/Ducky, we used to run around together at Bartlett when he was in PHX and had the Laser.
We have a Red RIOT with a Merc on the back, we will be up enjoying the river and watching the races this weekend.
We will also be at Saguaro on Wed (6/2) to make sure the boat is good to go for the long weekend ( we will be in Laughlin from Friday through Monday).
If anyone sees us out on the river or about, wave and say hi!

Thank you for all the information.
JUST ON MORE QUESTION:
Is there an area near the races that we
will be allowed to get in the water.
(It's going to be hotter then .....)
It may sound like a stupid question, but
I'd rather ask now, then get yelled at
later. :D
Thank you !

The promoter that contracted with myself to put on the event has asked that we have a few openings in the schedule on both days to allow spectators to "cool off". If the schedule is running "smooth" and we have no serious issues I see no problem in allowing more "cool off" water breaks. I know it is gonna be "africa" hot as it was last year so I sympathize with the fans.
We'll do our best to accomodate ya!
See you at the races!

ROSS,
I have been coming to the River Days for years, missed last year when the F1 boats pulled out, didn't know that the event still went on....:frown:
how is the VIP vs STD areas setup? is the VIP section like it had been prior years (i.e. free food/drinks/etc... special seating)?
We will be coming up on Friday afternoon.
see ya,
sid

Sid:
I believe the V.I.P. area is going to be pretty much the same as it has been for the past years. This is the info I have:\
Ticket Descriptions:
General Admission: This ticket is $11 for adults each day and $6 for children under 10 each day.
It allows access within the racing site, racing pits, and vendor village.
VIP: This ticket is $38 for adults each day and $27 for children under 10 each day.
In addition to all GA ticket access points, the VIP ticket allows access to the VIP Island, that allows for
preferred seating areas and admission to a catered tent. All food and beverage (including beer)
will be included within this ticket price. You must be 21 to drink on site and our staff will be carding.
*VIP Hospitality Ticket includes complimentary food & beverage for the day
· Continental Breakfast served from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
· Lunch served from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
· All food and beverage service ends at 3:00 p.m.
· Gates open at 8:30 a.m. both days
Parking:
As gates open each day, attendees may park for free within Davis Camp and will directed to the
designated parking areas via our staff. Shuttles will run from the parking areas to the racing site.
Paid parking will also be available on site. Those wishing to park closer to the pits will be
charged $5 per vehicle and will be available as long as space lasts.

We did the VIP deal last year and it was well worth the money. The shade is a nice bonus, the bathrooms are right next to the VIP tents.... the beer is flowing & so is the food. It is well worth the $38.00 even if you only stay for part of the day.
