This is on a '78 Sleekcraft Aristocrat with the JE Berk pump with jetovator.
The problem is with the reverse bucket cable.
The mounting point for the cable end is not in the right place and I was told not to clamp on the body of the cable.
Am I missing a part?
If someone can show me the proper setup I can probably fabricate what I need.....

Thanksfor any help!

Tim, I would belive if you move that clamp back an inch or two and grab the silver stainless housing you'd be good to go.
Is that a jet-o-vater?...I use to have on on my boat but it didn't look like that. Might that be a older Bushwaker(sp) or maybe a older Place unit?

Looks like a Place Diverter, same bolt patern on the bracket. My cables run down from the top through that bracket that hooks upward on yours.

Make an extension between the clevis and the end of the cable. Then you can fasten the cable conduit the way it was designed.

The diverter in your picture appears to be a Place. The Jetovator pivots differently..... from the bowl out, up/down, then left-right. The piece on the steering cable that looks kinda flimsy appears to be a cable extender for when the diverter was added. Here's 460 commander's E pump cable setup.
Don't know what the hell someone was doing with the one in your picture. The vertical bracket looks like the C style reverse cable bracket. The other bracket looks homemade.
Just my observations........

I have an old style je place diverter on my JC pump and from what you cant see in manics picture is that there is a bracket that holds a 43BC type cable from the top on the older P/D to control the reverse bucket . it looks to me like someone has substituted a 33c cable to get the low profile effect. manic .. you really should post a pic that shows a view a little further back so that the "whole" unit is in the picture. so anyways .. you either need to fabricate a bracket to properly locate the 33c type cable or get the proper 43bc type cable and run it from the top to the reverse bucket. it also appears that somebody has chopped part of the bracket off on yours manic. convert it to the lowprofile reverse bucket mount. so the easy thing to do looks like to run with what you have and fab up a bracket similair to taylormans setup .. BTW what actuates the diverter to go up and down now? the part they chopped off would have been what the diverter control cable attached to. the cable would have run through the tiller arm down to the part that was chopped off... am I missing something here?

Thanks for the replies everyone,
As I said, this is a JE pump,
I was told by the guy that sold me the boat that the diverter was the jetovator, this is my first jet so I don't know a whole lot about the various configurations.....
So this is an older style place diverter?
The pump is covered, creating some space constraints and I believe the diverter was added to the setup at sometime, thus the cut up upper bracket.
I would like to leave the cover on .
There were lots of these boats produced so I'm sure someone has the proper setup.
If I move the bracket holding the reverse cable back to meet the end, it's going to put the cable in a bind when turning, so the fix is not as simple as I first thought.
It looks like I need to fabricate a bracket like Taylorman shows in his pic to turn the cable end with the nozzle......IF I can make it to fit under the cover.
Here's a few more pics.
Anybody know what the proper hardware was?

Thanks again for the help! :)
Oh, and these are 43 series cables.

Sweet looking boat!

If ya ask me, It looks like someone had a diverter for a g/c pump and made it fit on an e pump. If ya look at pics of yours next to a c/g diverter, you can see where they cut brackets to make it work and fabed ones. I think if you were to look at place diverters website or somewhere you can get a parts breakdown, you can order the correct parts to make it function properly.

Hey, I really like that boat! It's like a lower/sleeker version of my Glas/Carl CVX20. Hope you are able to get the diverter problem handled, your boat is a definite "keeper"!
