What I did on my Memorial Day Vacation

Warning: no naked girls, LOL :D
We left on time at 2:00, got gas, remembered I left my purse at home, so we turned around after Scream turned several shades of purple. On the road at 2:30, took us an hour to get through the pass, then it lightend up. Not too much traffic. Gassed up in Baker, traffic just before Stateline because of a traffic fatality, we saw a couple helicopters lift off and the dreaded yellow sheet covering some poor soul on the road.( I counted 15 CHP's on our way from Alta Loma to Boulder City) Arrived at the Hacienda around 7:30. Rhonda's dad got us slips at Las Vegas Marina (cool) we went to gamble and eat (the food isn't that great at the hotel) Woke up bright and early, started getting our party of 24 ready to go................Hit the Lake Mead launch ramp at 10am, a line, but not too bad.
Park Rangers were checking each boat in line at the ramp for fire extinquishers and life vests. I pulled ours out, no problem. Scream backed the trailer down, I did the back down until the water covers the wheel thingy waited until he started the boat.....did the back and stop quick thing. He was off! I drove over to Las Vegas Marina to park. On the way out the line was twice as long!
On the boat, we cruised to a beach, very muddy, sinking sucking mud. (yuck) Lots of rocks in the lake, Rhonda's boat hit one, that I never could see, even when they all pointed it out to me.
After our muddy beach we headed into the narrows and over to another muddy beach. (yuck) Scream and I headed over to Hallett Beach to look for our buddies and found them! THAT made my day!!!We met dicudmore, Titties & Beer, and his friend. Had to leave for dinner reservations, should have eaten with Titties because our dinner sucked. We ate at the steak resturant and (well I went up to bed, cause I didn't feel so good) but everyone said the food was NOT spectacular.
Morning! UP, dressed, had some breakfast. Headed down to the slip and towed the ski's over to Hallett Beach (took a long time) Titties & Beer was gone, so we squeezed in over by the rocks. Got some "killer" looks from the Chapparell & Sea Ray owners next to us. (I guess cause it was Las Vegas Boat Beach?) The chick was in her boat, shaking her head at the back of our boats as they went out one time.............OK?
Met some neighbors of ours that lurk here....(should start posting!) Very nice people. Saw dicudmore's boat but I had to drive the boat fast so Scream could take pics. I didn't want to get to close to the beach. The water was glass.
Came back in, Rhonda drove my boat and tubed the kids. We saw a rock that was unmarked that we really had to keep an eye on. JUST above the surface....The kids had a blast in the tuby thingy. (It looked like torture, they got bounced around so much) Came back just in time to see the beer bonging begin. Scream was having SO MUCH FUN!!! LOL:D :D :D
I never got a chance to talk to dicudmore that day :(
Headed back in. Due to the beer bong, I was the designated driver. I had fun, I LOVE my boat. Driving into the sun wasn't really easy, and a couple of jet skis tried to run under my boat, but I was ready for them. I think I did well, and Rhonda's dad told me so! THAT made my day! (that day) I didn't want to dock, so Scream did, even in his state, he did a great job. Back to the hotel, drinks, dinner, I won $75 on Wheel of Fortune. Scream can tell you about his night.....................:D :D :D
Next morning, up not so early, packed up and left the hotel. Took a small ride out to the dam. I was amazed to see how low the water was from the spillway. That was the end of our great weekend...................

.Then all the bad stuff happened.....
I did't back the trailer down very well. I totally need to practice some more, Poor Matt had to put the boat on the trailer kinda sideways. Then I was so upset about that, when I winched the boat up, I messed up the strap, it got caught in the teeth...:frown: So we get the boat and are wipeing it down. Notice a chunk out of our starboard swim step:frown: I am almost in tears (ok, I cried) at this point. But it is 2:30 and we are ready to hit it, maybe miss some narly traffice..... Then Rhonda never shows up in her boat. Jon is looking for her..........we stay at the ramp while he goes to the other marina to look for her and get some gas. She calls Matt and tells him she ran out of gas and this very nice, but intoxicated house boat, is towing them in. So we drive over to tell Jon, drive back to wait for them. Cruise around the other marina, buy a hat, some ice cream. The not very nice lady won't let Matt and Jon over to the gas dock where his boat is. She doesn't comprhend that the boat can't come to us. Finally they sneek in a sideway....and the boat won't start.......Finally they come back. Jon gets in a very long line to pick up his boat. We drop off some jerky and chairs and hit the road at 5:00. After dinner at Mc Donalds it is 5:30 we are on the freeway looking for that Vegas traffic (because YOU know there is going to be a BUNCH) Not too bad untill Baker....we stop for gas....people are freaking out on the road, there is a line and they are passing in the dirt..........(OK?)
We buy gas at the Mobil, which has the SLOWEST GAS PUMP IN THE WORLD.......I KID YOU NOT!!!! Took us 15 minutes to pump 17 gallons:mad: Get back on the freeway, lots of traffic.....we average 20-30mph all the way to Alton? or Afton where there is a horrendous (sp) accident. Another dreaded yellow sheet, a very tiny car is all rolled over, stuff all over the center median and many many yards away are some other cars more stuff and some police cars.....:frown: Traffic picked up a bit.....then, Matt (such a good driver) notices that our diamond plate on top of our trailer wheel well is coming up and hitting the boat. We stop and take it off and there is a huge scratch. Back into the car, finally home at 10:30pm......Tired, sunburned, had a great trip.:D
I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of crowding at the lake. It is a big lake! I can't wait to go again in two weeks (after OP6C)

Our friends got stopped for engine cover riding. The boat cop got them and talked to them FOREVER! we were holding our breath, then they started to count the vests. Rhonda has a temper, so we held our breath some more. Then they let them go. He thought there were too many people in the boat, and she wanted to debate that with him (LOL) Their boat is very loud, because the exhaust is out of the water, ours isn't so loud because of the swimstep, or something.....I saw a lot of boat cops out there that day.....;)
