I decided to try and salvage my fiberglass tank instead of trying to fit a new one. Here's what I did. Removed the tank and found that old gas in it had eaten away a black coating on the inside of the tank....mostly just in one corner.....so I cut 2 holes about 6" by 6" in the top to give me access to scrub the inside and make sure all the flaking material was removed. I then coated the inside with gas tank coating/sealer from Eastwood Co. I saved the pieces I cut out of the top of the tank and put them back in place and layered several layers of glass a resin over them. I sanded and throughly cleaned all around the holes before I made the repair......do you guys think this will hold and be safe?
Attached are 2 pics.
Thanks

It's hard to seal a fiberglass tank once its started leaking . I wouldn't reinstall it until I filled it with fuel and let it sit for a week or so just to be sure the repair stays repaired . :p
Good Luck with it .
