Here's a pic of some Bassett short straights on my BBC. If I had it to do again, I would have gone with the twisties. They seem to sit lower than the straights.

I don't have any pics right now but I have both and I prefer the look of the twisties.

Twisties for me as well. Set lower and goes better with the lines of our boat though the straights might look better on some hulls.
Either way, ya cant got wrong. Both styles look great

I've had both. For looks I like the twisties although I'm running the long tube straights now. I did find that the twisties seem more prone to rusting.
I think it's because they're longer and have more area where a pipe is right next to another pipe. I don't know if it's the heat, moisture left between them, or a combination of the two. If you take care of them properly it most likely wouldn't be a problem though.

Twisty's help the short collectors over the transom, but I've never been a fan of the twisty's.
Still like the oldschool look of the blower style header, but there are some others out there that I like. Closer to period correct. :)

i've got rewarder twisties and i agree they are alittle harder to keep clean then straights.moisture gets in between the collector and rusts.i gotta wipe em down after every trip.twisty looks better to me,so i deal with it.

My last Boat I owned. The twisties were 18 years old they had the stamp 1988 on the side of the header they were always garaged and when I sold the boat they were in better shape than most peoples I seen they just had a little discolor in them but no rust so if you take care of them they will last you a long time. I cleaned them with a Bronze Wool and it doesn't scratch the chrome and then I use Wenol polish or you can just use a simple chrome polish but using the bronze wool is the trick http://***boat.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=12728&stc=1

Here's some irony for ya. Those are my old twisties
that I sold to Tyro..........christ T how long ago was
that three years? Four? They certainly look lots better
than when I sold em to ya.

Twisty's look good and so do shorties but I think for general maintenance on your motor Twisty's suck. You have to remove them to do valve checks but on shorty's you can access your vavle covers easy.
Rewarder upsweeps look good on some boats

i got them done here in az. the place is called jet hot coatings. they have a couple places over the states look them up. i cant be happier, i just for the first time polished them last nite and they look good as new. the first 6 inches or so are dull from the heat but the rest looks great. i have my intake done as well, thats going to be a little harder to polish.
